(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Cape May Stage presents Sexy Laundry by Michele Riml from July 16 through August 24, 2025. The relatable storyline follows Alice and Henry, a long-married couple, attempting to reignite the spark in their relationship by escaping to a trendy hotel with a copy of the book Sex for Dummies in hand.
As the couple navigates their vulnerabilities and desires, their weekend getaway becomes a hilarious and heartfelt exploration of love, marriage, and rediscovery. Through awkward encounters, comic mishaps, and moments of raw honesty, Alice and Henry confront the challenges of intimacy and communication that have built up over the years. In the end, they come to realize that rediscovering their connection requires not just effort but a willingness to embrace change and vulnerability.
The production is directed by Roy Steinberg. It has a running time of 90 minutes with no intermission.
Tickets are available for purchase online. Performances take place Tuesday through Sunday at 8:00pm. Cape May Stage NOTE: This play contains mature language and adult themes.

"When a long-married couple resorts to reading 'Sex For Dummies' and books a pretentious hotel to spice up their sex-life, we know things have grown stale and routine," wrote Roy Steinberg, Producing Artistic Director on the company's website. "I’m reminded of a Woody Allan movie where a couple is seeking therapy and their answers to the question “how often do you make love' illustrates the problem. The husband replies 'hardly ever – once or twice a week' while his wife responds “constantly – once or twice a week”. Lack of communication seems to be at the root of both of these couples’ problems – and genuine love is the antidote. Told with humor and honesty, this play has been enjoyed all over Canada and the west coast of our nation – we bring it to you for your enjoyment."
