"Kim's Convenience" comes to McCarter Theatre Center. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center welcomes the new year with Kim's Convenience, the award-winning comedy about a Korean family-run corner store that inspired the hit CBC television series later distributed internationally on Netflix. Running in the Berlind Theatre from January 23 through February 15, 2026, the play brings heart and humor to the stage as it explores family, identity, and resilience in a rapidly changing world.

Friday, January 23 - New Jersey Film Festival Spring 2026 Preview. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The 44th Bi-Annual New Jersey Film Festival will take place on select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays between January 23 and February 22, 2026. The Festival will be a hybrid one as it will be presented online as well as doing in-person screenings at Rutgers University. Click here for a video preview.

Heidi Schreck's "What the Constitution Means to Me" is Coming to Morristown. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Pioneer Productions is excited to announce a special, limited-engagement run of Heidi Schreck's What the Constitution Means to Me, coming to Morristown in early 2026. The play will run for five performances only, weekends from January 31 to February 8, 2026 at the Stage at Fellowship Hall in Morristown. Click here for a podcast about the production.

MPAC to hold auditions for Disney's Frozen. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Let it Go! Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC)'s 2026 spring production will be Disney's Frozen. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, this musical includes all the film's beloved songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, along with new music written exclusively for the stage. The show will be directed by Cathy Roy. Music Direction by Charles Santoro.

Wednesday, February 4 - PBS' Independent Lens Launches 20th Season of Free Pop-Up Screening Series in Teaneck and Nationwide. (TEANECK, NJ) -- The award-winning PBS documentary series, INDEPENDENT LENS, presents the launch of the upcoming season of Indie Lens Pop-Up in partnership with the Teaneck International Film Festival and the Puffin Cultural Forum. The season kicks-off on February 4, 2026 with The Librarians and continues through May. The series is free for all but sign up is required.

Thursday, February 5 - MPAC presents Alan Cumming: Uncut. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Multi-hyphenate, multi-award winning, multimedia mogul Alan Cumming returns to Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) on Thursday, February 5, 2026 with a new cabaret show, this time even more revealing, hilarious and authentic than ever before. It is, in fact, Alan Cumming Uncut. With musical direction by Henry Koperski. Showtime is 7:30pm. Limited tickets remain.

The Growing Stage presents a modern take on a classic story with "Cinderella: A Salsa Fairy Tale". (NETCONG, NJ) -- The Growing Stage: The Children's Theatre of New Jersey presents Cinderella: A Salsa Fairy Tale. With a book and lyrics by Karen Zacarías (Ella Enchanted) and music by Deborah Wicks La Puma (Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus), this vibrant production runs weekends from February 6–15, 2026. The play poses the question: What will happen to Cinderella at the ball... game?

Friday, February 6 - State Theatre New Jersey presents 512: The Selena Experience. Friday, February 6 - Lizzie Rose Music Room presents Tim Hause on Friday. (TUCKERTON, NJ) -- The Lizzie Rose Music Room presents Philadelphia singer-songwriter Tim Hause on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 7:30pm. Mindful Melodies will open the night.

Saturday, February 7 - Jazz at the Morris Museum: Bassist/Vocalist Thaddeus Exposé Celebrates the Music and History of New Orleans. The City of New Orleans, obviously, holds a mythical status in the world of jazz. The genre (or at least the form with which listeners are familiar) was invented and developed there, and every jazz musician – from the swingiest to the most avant-garde – holds at least some debt to the bygone inhabitants of the Big Easy. However, while the city is rightfully revered for its place in jazz history, its musicians tell a more complicated story.

Saturday, February 7 - McCarter Theatre presents José James with Special Guest Lizz Wright in a 50th Anniversary Tribute to Marvin Gaye's "I Want You" album. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center presents acclaimed jazz singer José James in a special 50th anniversary tribute to Marvin Gaye's iconic album I Want You on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 7:30pm. This is one of only two exclusive performances nationwide.

Saturday, February 7 - Kean Stage presents Good Witch Bad Witch on February 7th. (HILLSIDE, NJ) -- Kean Stage will present Good Witch Bad Witch on Saturday, February 7, 2025 at Enlow Recital Hall in Hillside. Sunday, February 8 - Touching documentary Mama’s Voice screens at the 2026 New Jersey Film Festival. Ganna Yarovenko’s documentary Mama’s Voice portrays the experience of a family displaced from Ukraine during the Russo-Ukrainian war, highlighting daily life and artistic healing.

Wednesday, February 4 - PSO Soundtracks Spotlights the Norwegian Hardanger Fiddle on February 4th. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Symphony Orchestra's (PSO's) Soundtracks Series continues on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at the Princeton Public Library with a musical presentation which introduces the national instrument of Norway, the Hardanger fiddle. Showtime is 7:00pm.

Thursday, February 5 - The Newton Theatre presents Dar Williams. (NEWTON, NJ) -- Dar Williams comes to The Newton Theatre on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 8:00pm. She's touring in support of her 13th album, Hummingbird Highway, which was released in September 2025.

Friday, February 6 - NEA Jazz Master Delfeayo Marsalis to Headline Bradley Beach Jazz Festival. (BRADLEY BEACH, NJ) -- The Bradley Beach Jazz Festival has announced the full schedule and lineup for its second annual event, transforming the shore town into a vibrant hub of sound and swing from February 6-7, 2026. The festival is anchored by three spectacular Main Stage sessions on the weekend, featuring an internationally renowned lineup led by NEA Jazz Master and master trombonist, Delfeayo Marsalis.

Friday, February 6 - Stone Pony presents The Ocean Avenue Ramble with Jackson Pines and Ocean Avenue Stompers. Saturday, February 7 - New Jersey Symphony celebrates the Year of the Horse with its annual Lunar New Year concert. (NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Symphony welcomes the Year of the Horse with its ninth annual Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. Seattle Symphony Associate Conductor Sunny Xia and Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Winner Haochen Zhang make their New Jersey Symphony debuts. Showtime is 7:30pm.

Saturday, February 7 - GRAMMY Award Winner Michelle Cann to Perform Grieg Piano Concerto with Princeton Symphony Orchestra. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Two-time GRAMMY Award winner Michelle Cann, lauded champion of Florence Price's music, displays her versatility performing repertoire of the mid-Romantic period at Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) concerts February 7-8, 2026. She will perform Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 16 on a program with 2024 GRAMMY® recipient Jessie Montgomery's Records from a Vanishing City and Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 36. Kenneth T. Bean conducts both performances at Richardson Auditorium.

Saturday, February 7 - Albert Music Hall presents A Night of Bluegrass in the Jersey Pines. (WARETOWN, NJ) -- Albert Music Hall will host a night devoted entirely to bluegrass music on Saturday, February 7, 2026, the first of three Bluegrass Shows scheduled at the hall this year. The evening will feature five live performances, each delivering a 30-minute set, celebrating the rich tradition and timeless sound of bluegrass music.

The Road Company presents "Groundhog Day: The Musical". (WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ) -- The Road Company presents Groundhog Day: The Musical weekends from January 22 to February 7, 2026. Critically acclaimed on both the West End and Broadway, Groundhog Day revels in one man's journey of self-discovery, day after day.

Arden Theatre Company presents the Philadelphia Premiere of "Good Bones". (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Arden Theatre Company presents the Philadelphia premiere of Good Bones, the newest play by Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright James Ijames (Fat Ham), about gentrification and the consequences of change in a neighborhood and in a family. Directed by Philadelphia-based award-winning actor Akeem Davis, the production begins performances January 22, opens January 28, and runs through March 8, 2026.

The Players Guild of Leonia presents "Blithe Spirit" by Noël Coward. (LEONIA, NJ) -- The Players Guild of Leonia presents Blithe Spirit by Noël Coward weekends from January 23 to February 8, 2026 in the Civil War Drill Hall. In Noël Coward’s sparkling classic, a well-intentioned séance conjures up far more than anyone expected.

Burlington County Footlighters presents "Calendar Girls". (CINNAMINSON, NJ) -- Burlington County Footlighters presents Calendar Girls by Tim Firth weekends from January 23 through February 7, 2026. It is based on the true story of eleven Women's Institute members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund.

Passage Theatre presents the World Premiere of "Muleheaded, or Zora and Langston Write a Play". (TRENTON, NJ) -- Passage Theatre, the only professional theatre company in Trenton, presents the World Premiere of David Robson's Muleheaded, or Zora and Langston Write a Play from January 29 through February 16, 2026. The play is based on a seldom told true story between literary giants Zora Neale Hurston and Langston Hughes. Robson had previously written Passage Theatre's fall 2022 production of Blues in My Soul.

Theater To Go presents the Psychological Thriller "Gaslight" at Kelsey Theatre. (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Theater To Go presents Gaslight, Patrick Hamilton's gripping Victorian psychological thriller, at the Kelsey Theatre on the West Windsor campus of Mercer County Community College. Performances run weekends from January 30 through February 8, 2026.

Two River Theater presents "The Good Thief" starring Christopher Fitzgerald. (RED BANK, NJ) -- The award-winning Two River Theater presents The Good Thief starring three-time Tony Award® nominee Christopher Fitzgerald (Broadway's Wicked, Waitress, Spamalot, Young Frankenstein) in the title role from February 4-15, 2026.

Paper Mill Playhouse presents "Come From Away". (MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse presents Come From Away from February 4 to March 1, 2026. The play deals with September 11, 2001 - the day the world stopped - and September 12, when a small Newfoundland town started bringing people together. Come From Away tells the true story of 7,000 stranded airplane passengers welcomed by a community that turned fear into friendship and strangers into family.

Jesse Eisenberg, José Rivera, Christopher Goutman, Lyle Kessler to perform at 2026 Chain Winter One-Act Festival. (NEW YORK, NY) -- The 2026 edition of the Chain Winter One-Act Festival takes place from February 5 through March 1, 2026, at Chain Theatre (312 West 36th Street, 3rd and 4th Floors, New York, NY). The festival has become one of the city's largest and most dynamic showcases for new work.

The Village Playbox presents "A Midsummer Night's Dream". (HADDON HEIGHTS, NJ) -- The Village Playbox presents William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream across three weekends from February 6-21, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights. The production is directed by Natasha Thompson.

Light Opera of New Jersey presents "Rigoletto" at The Sieminski Theater. (BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- The Light Opera of New Jersey presents Rigoletto at The Sieminski Theater February 7-8, 2026. Experience the raw passion and haunting power of Verdi’s Rigoletto, a tragic tale of love, betrayal, and revenge.

Rutgers-Camden Theater presents "Hand Me Down the Silver Trumpet" by Kenneth Elliott. (CAMDEN, NJ) -- Rutgers–Camden Theater kicks off 2026 with Kenneth Elliott's, Hand Me Down the Silver Trumpet, which celebrates the legacy of great African American musical artists of the 1920s and 30s who recorded "race records" for the Victor Talking Machine Company, and features performances of classic blues, jazz, and spirituals performed by special guest artists, students, alumni, and a truly swinging band.

October Ensemble Theater Company presents The Sweetest Crime: A Chocolate Covered Murder Mystery. (OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- The October Ensemble Theater Company presents The Sweetest Crime: A Chocolate Covered Murder Mystery weekends from February 6 though March 1, 2026 at the Jersey Shore Arts Center.

North Star Theater Company to hold auditions for "The 39 Steps". (OGDENSBURG, NJ) -- North Star Theater Company will hold auditions for its upcoming production of The 39 Steps on Friday, February 6 from 6:30pm–9:30pm and Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 1:00pm–5:00pm at the NSTC Studio (21 Kennedy Avenue) in Ogdensburg, New Jersey.

Masquerade Theatre presents "American Son". (RIVERSIDE, NJ) -- Masquerade Theatre presents American Son by Christopher Demos-Brown across two weekends from February 6-14, 2026. An estranged bi-racial couple must confront their feelings about race and bias after their son is detained by the local police following a traffic stop incident. Their disparate histories and backgrounds inform their assumptions as they try to find out what happened to their son.

Music Mountain Theatre presents "Les Liaisons Dangereuses". (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents Les Liaisons Dangereuses across three weekends from February 6-22, 2026. The Tony-nominated play by Christopher Hampton is based on the novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. It's a tale of seduction and treachery among aristocrats in pre-revolutionary France.

Bridge Players Theatre Company presents "She Kills Monsters". (BURLINGTON, NJ) -- Bridge Players Theatre Company presents She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen across three weekends from February 6-21, 2026. This action-packed, heartfelt show follows a young woman who dives into her late sister's Dungeons & Dragons world – facing monsters, magic, and the messy bonds of family along the way.

Bergen County Players presents "Play On!" by Rick Abbot. (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players presents Play On!, the fast-paced, laugh-out-loud comedy by Rick Abbot, weekends from February 7-28, 2026 at Oradell's Little Firehouse Theater. Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater & Music Theater presents a workshop of a new work in development "No One is Forgotten: An Immersive Opera Drama". (PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater and Music Theater at Princeton University presents No One is Forgotten: An Immersive Opera Drama from February 7-8, 2026 in the Wallace Theater at the Lewis Arts complex on the Princeton campus. The work is the first live performance of a tale of intimacy, surrender and the will to survive.

A fan favorite on the hit NPR podcast Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, Helen Hong also hosts the celebrity trivia game show podcast Go Fact Yourself.

Saturday, February 7 - Dance New Jersey presents DNJFest '26: "Moved by Culture". (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Dance New Jersey presents DNJFest '26: Moved by Culture at Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts on Saturday, February 7, 2026. This is a statewide, day-long celebration highlighting the power of dance to connect communities, honor heritage, and uplift the diverse voices that shape New Jersey's cultural landscape.

Sunday, February 8 - A Decade in the Making: Nimbus Dance Unveils ANIMA Trilogy - A Visceral Exploration of Humanity's Fragile Bond with Nature. (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Following ten years of creation and collaboration, Nimbus Dance presents the world premiere of ANIMA, Samuel Pott's evening-length work that confronts our most primal and precarious bond: humankind's relationship with the natural world. The tumult of environmental crises, human impact on the planet's cycles, and, most intrinsically, the disorientation and disconnect from nature, are the themes that drive this powerful and epic trilogy of dances. The ShowRoom and Asbury Park Movie Club present Remembering Reiner Film Series. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The ShowRoom and Asbury Park Movie Club present Remembering Reiner, a three-film retrospective celebrating the remarkable, genre-spanning career of filmmaker Rob Reiner, screening Wednesdays throughout February. The series includes screenings of This Is Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally, and The Princess Bride.

Thursday, February 5 - Lighthouse International Film Society to screen "The Voice of Hind Rajab". (LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ) -- Lighthouse International Film Society presents a screening of The Voice of Hind Rajab on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Long Beach Island Foundation of Arts & Science at 7:30pm. Based on the actual audio recordings of a 5-year-old Gazan girl trapped in a car with the bodies of her family members, the film blends documentary filmmaking with dramatization to maximize the emotional impact of this tragedy without ever seeing the little girl or the place where she lay dying.

COMMUNITY

Lewis Center for the Arts Events in February 2026. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton University's programs in Creative Writing, Dance, Theater & Music Theater, Visual Arts and the interdisciplinary Atelier form the Lewis Center for the Arts. In February, events presented by the Center include theatre, books, film, dance, and art.

Thursday, February 5 - Swashbuckling Heroines and High Seas Adventures with Novelist Vanessa Riley. Jo-El Lopez Explores the Spiritual Side of Artificial Intelligence at the Morris Museum. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- The Morris Museum presents Digital Divine, a visionary exhibition by New Jersey–based artist Jo-El Lopez, whose work examines the intersection of technology, spirituality, and humanity. Through vibrant paintings and mixed-media works, Lopez invites viewers to imagine a world where artificial intelligence is not merely a tool but a spiritual presence — a reflection of faith, ritual, and consciousness in the digital age. The work is on display through February 2026.

New Exhibition Opens at Gallery Bergen: Telas de Solidaridad/Threads of Solidarity: Connections to Guatemala. (PARAMUS, NJ) -- Gallery Bergen, the visual arts presentation space of Bergen Community College, in collaboration with the Guatemalan solidarity organization, Grupo Cajolá in North America, presents Telas de Solidaridad/Threads of Solidarity: Connections to Guatemala. The exhibit is on display from December 11th through February 5, 2026.

Quilt Show to Open Trenton City Museum's 2026 Exhibition Season. (TRENTON, NJ) -- Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie will begin its 2026 art exhibition season with the quilt show byCONTRAST: Apparent Contradictions. A New Jersey and New York regional juried exhibition presented in coordination with Studio Art Quilt Associates NY+NJ, the show opens Friday, January 9, 2026 and remains on view through February 9, with related programs to be announced.

Pro Arts Jersey City presents "First Impressions". (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Pro Arts Jersey City presents "First Impressions" weekends from January 11 to February 7, 2026 in the ART150 Gallery. Exhibiting Artists include: Beth Fisher, Bethany Altschwager, Gao Yuan, Hank Yaghooti, Lauren Libermann, Maggie Hinders, Martin Kasmin. The exhibit is curated by Judy Wukitsch.
