Lighthouse International Film Society to screen "The Voice of Hind Rajab"

(LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ) -- Lighthouse International Film Society presents a screening of The Voice of Hind Rajab on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Long Beach Island Foundation of Arts & Science @ 7:30pm. Based on the actual audio recordings of a 5-year-old Gazan girl trapped in a car with the bodies of her family members, the film blends documentary filmmaking with dramatization to maximize the emotional impact of this tragedy without ever seeing the little girl or the place where she lay dying.

Instead, viewers witness the workers behind the scenes at the rescue center in far-off Ramallah, attempting to coordinate safe passage for an ambulance to pick up the child in Gaza, and transport her eight miles to safety.

The Voice of Hind Rajab is directed by Kaouther Ben Hania. As the story unfolds, it’s this “coordination" between the Palestine Red Crescent and Israeli Defense Ministry which takes primary focus — those struggling to arrange for the girl's recovery, and others less concerned with her welfare while bound up in military red tape. Apparently, for associated political reasons, the film’s wide release is being snarled with distribution delays.

But thanks to the resolve of LIFS to make important films like this available, those on LBI can attend a screening of this ground-breaking film on February 5th at the LBI Foundation for Art & Science.

Tickets are $12 online and $15 at the door. Tickets are available for purchase online. The Long Beach Island Foundation of Arts & Science is located at 120 Long Beach Blvd in Loveladies, New Jersey.
