Lewis Center for the Arts presents "Machinal"

(PRINCETON, NJ) --  The Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater at Princeton University will present Sophie Treadwell's 1928 expressionist drama Machinal on January 10, 11,12 and 13 at 8:00pm in the Wallace Theater at the Lewis Arts complex on the Princeton campus. The January 11 performance will be American Sign Language-interpreted.  Inspired by the real-life case of accused criminal Ruth Snyder, Machinal tells the story of Young Woman who works as a stenographer in an industrial, male-dominated world.

 



Passage Theatre's Solo Flights Series presents "To My Unborn Child: A Love Letter From Fred Hampton" and "Bicycle Face"

(TRENTON, NJ) -- Passage Theatre Company, Trenton's Barrymore Award-winning professional theatre company, will present two plays this February as part of their audience-favorite Solo Flights series. To My Unborn Child: A Love Letter from Fred Hampton, written and performed by Richard Bradford and directed by John Doyle, will perform from February 8-10. Bicycle Face, written and performed by Hannah Van Sciver and directed by David O'Connor, will perform from February 15-17.

 



Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey Announces 2019 Season

(MADISON, NJ) -- The Shakespeare Theatre's 57th season promises to thrill audiences with productions filled with swashbucklers, star-crossed lovers, holiday magic, and wild and delightful comedy. Beginning in June and continuing through December, the 2019 season will include five productions on the 308-seat Main Stage at The F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre in Madison, and one production at its Outdoor Stage, located on the campus of the College of Saint Elizabeth. The lineup includes The Three Musketeers (adapted by Ken Ludwig),  The Rainmaker, As You Like It, Romeo and Juliet, A Christmas Carol, and, on the Outdoor Stage, William Shakespeare's Long Lost First Play (abridged).

The Theater Project Receives Grant From Investors Foundation To Support Young Playwrights

(UNION, NJ) -- The Theater Project, presenting programs in Cranford, Maplewood, Union and Rahway, recently received a $500 grant from Investors Foundation.  The grant will help further Theater Project's mission of encouraging the next generation of writers by supporting its 17th annual Competition for Young Playwrights.

The Porchistas To Hold Farewell Bash For Drummer Jonathan Riordan

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- On Friday, January 11 at 8:30pm, The Porchistas are hosting a farewell show for their drummer Jonathan Riordan at The Porchistas Home Studio in Montclair. The night will include performances by The You and Eyes, The Good Kind, and The Porchistas. There will be a keg and snacks.  $5 suggested donation at the door.  Bring a reusable cup, mug, or jar.

 



Leonia Arts to Present 'Speakeasy' Benefit Jazz Concert Featuring Cenovia Cummins & Friends

(LEONIA, NJ) -- Travel back in time to the Roaring '20s at the Leonia Arts' 'Speakeasy', a live benefit jazz concert with the Cenovia Cummins & Friends band to support the organization's 2019 art initiatives.  Leonia Arts, a nonprofit cultural arts alliance in the borough of Leonia, New Jersey, presents the special event on Sunday, January 20 at 7:30pm at the American Legion Hall (American Legion Post #1), located at 399 Broad Avenue in the borough.

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Calling all ladies! Ladies Night Out Comedy Tour makes a stop at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 8:00pm. NeNe Leakes (Real Housewives of Atlanta) hosts this outrageous stand-up comedy event featuring Adele Givens (the big-screen Beauty Shop), Sherri Shepherd (former longtime host on The View), Loni Love (co-host of Fox's Emmy-winning The Real), and Janelle James (of HBO's current Crashing).

Garden State Film Festival Announces 2019 Educator of the Year Recipients

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) --  The Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) has chosen Linda Krebs and Erin Gomez, as the GSFF's 2019 Educator of the Year recipients. Both women are members and facilitators of the Monmouth County Shore Consortium for the Gifted & Talented (SCG&T), an organization dedicated to providing curriculum-driven enriching opportunities to smaller school districts. This honor is in recognition of their heartfelt devotion to their students and exceptional achievements in education, especially in film and video production as well as in the community. Linda and Erin will receive their awards at the black-tie-optional Awards Banquet at The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel in Asbury Park on March 31st.

David Felicie Goes From the Air Force to Ballet "In One Leap" As Mowgli in Axelrod's "The Jungle Book"

(OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- David Felicie of Jackson, NJ, will star in the role of Mowgli in the world premiere of the Axelrod Contemporary Ballet Theater's production of €œThe Jungle Book€ -- an exotic dance musical where east meets west, is an exciting retelling of Rudyard Kipling's collection of stories about a boy adopted and raised by wolves, who fulfills his quest for identity, love, and belonging.  Performances will take place February 2 and 9 at 8:00pm, February 3 at 3:00pm, and February 10 at 1:00pm and 5:00pm.
