UCPAC presents The Rascals

originally published: 09/04/2024

(RAHWAY, NJ) -- Two legendary founders of The Rascals are together again. Felix Cavaliere and Gene Cornish cite the fans and love of their timeless songs as reasons for collaboration. You can see them as part of The Rascals 2024 People Got to Be Free tour on Friday, October 4, 2024 at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees, Grammy Hall of Fame, Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and Songwriter Hall of Fame members, The Rascals are widely considered the best ‘blue-eyed soul’ group to come out of the 1960s, and their music is the soundtrack of a generation.

The Rascals have 17 Top 20 hits, seven Top 10 hits, and three No.1 hits that include “Groovin’”, “People Got To Be Free”, and “Good Lovin’.” Don’t miss The Rascals 2024 People Got To Be Free Tour!

Tickets range from $40-$80 and are available for purchase online.  The Union County Performing Arts Center is located at 1601 Irving Street in Rahway, New Jersey.

“We’re so grateful for the fans, this is for them,” Felix Cavaliere said. “This gives us another chance to play together and do it for the fans,” added Gene Cornish.

The Rascals concert is presented by Smooth Jazz NJ whose mission is to bring live "contemporary jazz" and R&B to New Jersey. Rich Engel a New Jersey resident for decades, been involved with Smooth Jazz in NY with a particular concentration on the “Smooth Cruise” a two-hour music sailing on the Hudson River, with a view of the New York City skyline. With the advent of Covid 19, the Smooth Cruise ended operations after the summer of 2019. Recognizing that approximately half of the passengers on the Smooth Cruise New York were making the trip from N.J. to see the top names in Adult Contemporary Jazz and R&B, it seemed apparent that a void existed. With too few venues in New Jersey offering live nationally recognized Smooth Jazz and R&B artists, the creation of Smooth Jazz New Jersey now exists. The mission is to bring live nationally recognized contemporary Jazz and R&B music to venues in New Jersey.

The Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC) has a well-earned reputation as the “Crown Jewel” of the performing arts scene in Union County. We’re a sophisticated performing arts campus presenting everything from rock concerts to theatrical productions, a multipurpose community center, a five-star rental facility for corporate, nonprofit, and private events, and currently, the home of New Jersey’s one and only classic movie palace!

Governed by a Board of Trustees, the Union County Arts Center, Inc. (d.b.a. The Union County Performing Arts Center, aka UCPAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit historic theatre serving both the community of Union County and the state of New Jersey.
