The Weeklings kicked off 2023 with the release of "I've Just Seen A Face" - a cover of The Beatles classic, reimagined as only The Weeklings can do.
Lefty Weekling (Glen Burtnik), came up with the idea for the band to record The Beatles classic. Lefty explained the trajectory. “When I was a kid, the 'Rubber Soul' album came out. Side One, track one was 'I've Just Seen A Face' here in the U.S. It was a bouncy, positive start to a wonderful disc.”
“The Weeklings have often enjoyed rearranging Beatles' music and decided to attempt our own take on this classic tune. Like our versions of 'The Word', ‘Baby You’re a Rich Man”, and ‘What’s The New Mary Jane?’, we added our own spin to this beloved song. The beat is different from the original, but I dare you to resist singing along with this amazing Paul McCartney melody!”
The lead vocals and harmonies soar beautifully above the dense, jangly guitars and driving drums. A sitar drone draws you into the track and takes you out. There's even a swirling and unexpected acapella moment!
Lefty said Scooter Weekling (Marty Scott), JEM President, describes the track as being "Weeklingized!''
The Weeklings are known as America’s most unique tribute to the music and inspiration of The Beatles. The popular NJ based band has a growing fan base. They perform an explosive collection of Beatles classics, nuggets, power pop nuggets and originals. The band includes: Lefty, Zeek Weekling (Bob Burger), Rocky Weekling (John Merjave) and Smokestack Weekling (Joe Bellia).
"I've Just Seen A Face" was released by JEM Records on January 19th. The audio single is available on iTunes, Amazon, Apple Music and streamed on Spotify.
