(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Princeton Folk Music Society presents multi-faceted singer and guitarist Ruth Wyand at Christ Congregation Church on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 8:00pm. Being diversified is Ruth Wyand's specialty. Demonstrating guitar virtuosity with powerful fingerpicking, bottleneck slide and a warm alto voice Ruth plays a mix of Americana, jazz, blues, folk, and country, with a portion of Piedmont picking and bluegrass clawhammer thrown in.

Ruth’s songwriting is universal, using a melting pot of styles with lyrics that are timeless, relatable, and emotionally resonant – sometimes witty, sometimes serious, but always human and genuine. Ruth presents a mixture of originals with poignant lyrics as well as well-crafted instrumental arrangements of classics ranging from Doc Watson, Etta Baker, Jimi Hendrix, and Leo Kottke to Thelonious Monk and Nina Simone. Each song, no matter how different, has a firm Ruth Wyand stamp of style on it.

"Ruth writes many of her own songs but I think her strong point is her historical representations of the greats of the blues like Etta James, Blind Blake, Robert Johnson, Son House, and Skip James. This is not the typical acoustic strumming musician to support the vocals. Ruth has some real skills on guitars, and a great voice and musical talents to round things out." Juke Jackson, New Blues Reviews, WTJU 91.1 FM (2023)

"Wyand's shows demonstrate some serious guitar playing and passionate singing. She also displays a sense of humor that ranges from the rather subtle to practically in your face. She will bring a smile to your face or a tear to your eye if you focus on the lyrics. If you focus on the musicianship, her skillful command of the fretboard will impress every guitarist in the room." Peter Zorb, Americana & Roots Guitarist News

Tickets are available for purchase online. Tickets at the door: $25 ($20 members, $10 students 12 - 22, $5 children 11 and under). Christ Congregation Church is located at 50 Walnut Lane in Princeton, New Jersey. Ample free parking.
