Fanwood Songwriter Eric Harrison invites Jersey Rockers to "Sal's Place"

originally published: 01/11/2024

"Don't you wanna go where everybody knows your name?" asks Fanwood-based singer-songwriter Eric Harrison in rolling out "Sal's Place," his first new single of 2024. Featuring lead guitar from Gordon Brown of Asbury Park veterans Williams Honor and Harrison's two Jersey girl daughters on background vocals, "Sal's Place" celebrates what the singer calls "my fellow JROCAs (Jersey Rockers of a Certain Age)" who can't help but envision a victory around the corner.

"TikTok's got a new recruit/ I got warm beer beneath my boots / Let the kids laugh / This ain't for them anyway"

"Tom Petty said it and he made it rhyme / Even the losers get lucky sometimes"

"I just wanna break even / And feel alive today / Armageddon / I'm getting off / Take a drag until you cough"

"Another shot crazy as a loon / When it's over it'll be too soon / At Sal's Place / The only place for me"

Produced by Harrison's longtime collaborator Kevin Salem, "Sal's Place" is the first of 12 singles that he plans to release in 2024 - one per month - to be followed by a full length album at the end of the year.

"I'm an old guy who still listens to full albums, but I have to acknowledge how the modern attention span has changed in recent years" says Harrison.  "And I'm too emotionally invested in these new songs not to give each one of them a day in the sun."

"Sal's Place" drops on streaming services on January 19.

Harrison and his band the Crash Chorus will perform at Crossroads of Garwood on Saturday January 20 at 9:00pm.
