originally published: 10/20/2026

(MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Algonquin Arts Theatre is presenting Oliver! until October 25, 2026. A beloved musical based on Charles Dickens' timeless novel, Oliver! tells the story of a young boy searching for home and belonging. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.

Featuring unforgettable songs like "Food, Glorious Food," "Consider Yourself," and "As Long As He Needs Me," this classic remains a moving and uplifting theatrical experience.

Remaining performances take place Friday, October 23 at 7:30pm; Saturday, October 24 at 2:00pm & 7:30pm; and Sunday, October 25 at 3:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online.

Algonquin Arts Theatre is located at 60 Abe Voorhees Drive in Manasquan, New Jersey.
