(FORKED RIVER, NJ) -- In honor of Patriot Day, the Lacey Branch of the Ocean County Library will host "The Soundtrack of Resilience: Music and 9/11" on Thursday, September 10, 2026. The event begins at 2:00pm.
Melissa Ziobro, Curator of the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music at Monmouth University, will tell how music played a powerful role in helping Americans mourn, remember, and heal after 9/11.
This multimedia presentation explores how both existing songs and new music resonated deeply with the public in this somber period – from the emotional impact of Whitney Houston’s stirring national anthem to the inspirational message of “Hero” by Mariah Carey. At the center of the discussion is “The Rising,” in which Bruce Springsteen captured the grief, courage, and hope that defined the months following the attacks.
