Wednesday, April 8 - John Coltrane's Centennial Birthday to be Celebrated at McCarter Theatre Center and NJPAC. Joe Lovano learned about John Coltrane in the basement of his Cleveland home. "My dad played saxophone," he said, "and he loved Coltrane. His record collection was full of Coltrane recordings from the earliest Bethlehem records, all the Prestige, into Atlantic, and, of course, the Impulse! period."

Thursday, April 9 - MPAC presents Women of Americana: A Celebration of American Music. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Coinciding with the United States' upcoming semiquincentennial, Women of Americana: A Celebration of American Music, produced by Eli Wolf, comes to Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 7:30pm.

Thursday, April 9 - Bassist Martin Wind Adds Piano to His Gravity Trio for Area Performances. German-born bassist and composer Martin Wind has built an extensive résumé with more than 20 albums as a leader or co-leader and performance credits with legends such as clarinetist Buddy DeFranco, guitarist Pat Metheny, alto saxophonist Phil Woods, harmonicist Toots Thielemans, and many others. He has regularly performed at some of the top jazz venues in the world. Upcoming performances include release performances for his newest record September (2026, Laika Records) with his Gravity Trio and special guest Glenn Zaleski on piano -- April 9 at Smalls Jazz Club in New York; April 10 at the Puffin Cultural Forum in Teaneck, NJ; and at the Deer Head Inn in Delaware Water Gap, PA, April 11.

Thursday, April 9 - Morris Museum presents Cerus Quartet on April 9th. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- The Morris Museum presents Cerus Quartet on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 7:00pm. Founded in 2022, the Cerus Quartet is dedicated to showcasing the dynamic and versatile sound of the saxophone quartet.

Friday, April 10 - Newton Theatre presents GRUNGEFEST: Tributes to Pearl Jam & Chris Cornell. (NEWTON, NJ) -- Fans of grunge music will want to mark their calendars for GRUNGEFEST on Friday, April 10, 2026 at The Newton Theatre.  The Ledbetters will pay tribute to Pearl Jam and Superunknown will perform songs by Chris Cornell. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Friday, April 10 - SOPAC presents Texas Flood - A Tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan. (SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- Texas Flood - A Tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan comes to the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 7:30pm.

Friday, April 10 - Westminster Conservatory Faculty Recital on April 10th to honor Galina Prilutskaya. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- On Friday, April 10, 2026 at 7:30pm, Westminster Conservatory of Rider University will present a faculty recital to honor the memory of Galina Prilutskaya, a long-time member of the Conservatory's piano faculty who died on October 11, 2025. The recital will take place in Hillman Performance Hall in the Marion Buckelew Cullen Music Center (101 Walnut Lane) in Princeton. The recital is open to the public free of charge.

Saturday, April 11 - Outpost in the Burbs and Montclair Film presents the Music of John Prine: Film and Concert. (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Outpost in the Burbs and Montclair Film presents "In Spite of Ourselves," a concert and film screening of You Got Gold, on Saturday, April 11, 2026. The concert and film are a tribute to the music of the legendary singer-songwriter John Prine.

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey and Metropolitan Entertainment present Graham Nash - Live on Tour 2026 on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 8:00pm. Nash will perform a career-spanning retrospective from his six decades of contributions to contemporary music.

Saturday, April 11 - New Jersey Punk Rock Flea Market Spring Fling Returns April 11–12. (EDISON, NJ) -- The New Jersey Punk Rock Flea Market Spring Fling returns to the New Jersey Expo Center in Edison, New Jersey, on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12, 2026, bringing with it a two-day blowout of punk rock legends, hundreds of artists and makers, food trucks, live entertainment, tattoos, oddities, and community-driven fundraising on a scale that matches the event's outsized reputation.

Saturday, April 11 - Grunin Center presents Latin Grammy Award Winner, Nella. (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Renowned singer Nella brings her multilingual artistry to Ocean County College, performing on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Grunin Center for the Arts. Showtime is 7:00pm.

Saturday, April 11 - Kean Stage presents Tito Puente, Jr.. (UNION, NJ) -- Tito Puente Jr., son of legendary American salsa and Latin jazz musician Tito Puente, will perform at Kean Stage on Saturday, April 11, 2026. The concert takes in Wilkins Theatre at 7:30pm.

Saturday, April 11 - The Stone Pony presents Glen Hansard on April 11th. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The Stone Pony presents Glen Hansard and special guest Margaret Glaspy on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 7:00pm.

Saturday, April 11 - Five-time GRAMMY Winner Angélique Kidjo Comes to McCarter Theatre Center. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Five-time GRAMMY Award winner Angélique Kidjo comes to McCarter Theatre Center on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 7:30pm for an electrifying evening of music spanning her extraordinary career. The performance is part of a limited six-city U.S. tour before Kidjo continues to Europe for a series of international festival appearances.

Sunday, April 12 - State Theatre New Jersey presents Itzhak Perlman in Recital. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents Itzhak Perlman in Recital on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 3:00pm. Perlman, joined by his longtime recital partner Rohan De Silva, returns to STNJ in one of the most anticipated events of the season as he celebrates his 80th birthday. The program will include Mozart's Sonata for Violin and Piano, No. 3 in B-flat Major; Franck's Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major; Dvořák's Sonatina in G Major; and others to be announced from the stage.

Sunday, April 12 - Two Generations of Jazz: Pianist Caelan Cardello and Bassist Rufus Reid at April Jersey Jazz LIVE!. "I find it wonderfully satisfying and enjoyable to make music with Caelan. The evening will go like the wind, and it is unfortunate we have only one set, but there will be more opportunities. Don't be late!"

Sunday, April 12 - Krakauer & Tagg's Good Vibes Explosion comes to OCC's Grunin Center on Sunday. (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts at Ocean County College will come alive with the energy and extraordinary sounds of Krakauer & Tagg's Good Vibes Explosion on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 3:00pm.

THEATRE

Vivid Stage presents "Etiquette" by David Lee White. (SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage presents "Etiquette" by David Lee White across two weekends from April 9-19, 2026. The play takes place in the Fall of 2021 and the Cellar Theatre is back in production after a year of Zoom programming.

 

Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater & Music Theater presents "The Comeuppance" by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater and Music Theater at Princeton University presents The Comeuppance by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright and Princeton alumnus Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Class of 2006. Performances take place April 3-4 and April 10 at 8:00pm and April 11 at 2:00pm & 8:00pm at the Berlind Theatre at McCarter Theatre Center.

Faith and Frosting Collide in "The Cake" at Bergen County Players. (ORADELL, NJ) -- Enjoy a touching and topical dramedy as love clashes with conscience in Bergen County Players' (BCP) production of The Cake. The play, written by Bekah Brunstetter, producer/writer for the hit TV series This Is Us, is directed by Carol Fisher of Teaneck. It opens March 14 and runs through April 11, 2026 at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell.

October Ensemble presents the World Premiere of "Oh Sh*t, Sherlock!". (OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- October Ensemble presents the World Premiere of Oh Sh*t, Sherlock! weekends from March 20 to April 12, 2026 at The Jersey Shore Arts Center. The actor playing Sherlock has never seen the script. Hilarity ensues as the rest of the cast tries to keep the mystery on track!

Megan Thee Stallion to make her Broadway debut in "Moulin Rouge! The Musical". (NEW YORK, NY) -- Producers of the Tony Award®-winning, record-breaking Broadway hit Moulin Rouge! The Musical have announced that three-time Grammy Award-winning superstar and actress Megan Thee Stallion will make her Broadway debut in the production as "Zidler", impresario of the titular nightclub. Taking the stage for a strictly limited 8-week engagement, Megan will light up the Al Hirshfeld Theatre from Tuesday, March 24th to Sunday, May 17, 2026, promising an unmissable, moment in the show's legendary run.

Music Mountain Theatre presents "MAME". (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents MAME weekends from March 27 through April 19, 2026. The musical is based on the novel "Auntie Mame" by Patrick Dennis and the play by Lawrence and Lee.

Vanguard Theater Company presents "What The Constitution Means to Me". (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Vanguard Theater Company presents What The Constitution Means to Me weekends from March 27 through April 12, 2026. Playwright Heidi Schreck’s boundary-breaking play breathes new life into our Constitution and imagines how it will shape the next generation of Americans. 

Paper Mill Playhouse presents "1776". (MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse presents 1776, the Tony Award-winning musical, from April 1 through May 2, 2026. It brings the story behind the creation of the Declaration of Independence to the stage with witty satire, compelling drama, and a thrilling score. With music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and book by Peter Stone, 1776 follows John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and their fellow delegates as they navigate fiery debates, political tensions, and personal conflicts in their struggle to unite thirteen colonies.

"The Startup" to have Workshop Production at The Flea Theater. (NEW YORK, NY) -- The Flea Theater hosts workshop productions of The Startup from April 1-19, 2026. The Startup is a comedic new musical that follows Chip Cooper, the optimistic CEO of a rising tech company, and his idealistic team as they scramble to save their business when funding runs dry. The show is in previews from April 1-4.

Centenary Stage Company presents 2026 Women Playwrights Series in April. (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company presents the 2026 Women Playwrights Series (WPS) across three Wednesdays from April 1-15. This year's series will feature staged readings of Big Money by Lauren Ferebee; Breeders by Megan Campisi; and Not It! by Kathleen Coudle-King.

"It's Never Too Late," A New Musical Exploring Hope and Second Chances, Debuts at Kelsey Theatre in April. (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- The power of hope, reinvention, and second chances takes the stage when Theater To Go presents the world premiere, limited engagement of the new Lou DiPietro musical It's Never Too Late, across two weekends from April 3–12, 2026 at the Kelsey Theatre on the Mercer County Community College West Windsor Campus.

Chain Theatre presents the World Premiere of "The Pushover" by John Patrick Shanley. (NEW YORK, NY) -- Chain Theatre presents the world premiere production of ​John Patrick Shanley's The Pushover, directed by Kirk Gostkowski, from April 6-26, 2026. The Pushover is a play about three bad-ass women who collide and collude at a spa in New Mexico, and a bare-bones Asian restaurant in Queens.

Emerging Artists Theatre's Spark Theatre Festival NYC Celebrates 20th Anniversary. (NEW YORK, NY) -- Award-winning Emerging Artists Theatre (EAT) returns with their bi-annual Spark Theatre Festival NYC, on Monday, April 6 and runs until April 26, 2026 at The 28th Street Theatre (TADA). The three-week festival will showcase over 60 new works in progress, including musicals, plays, solo performances, storytelling, and dance. Theatre luminaries such as TV comedy icon Joyce Bulifant, Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber, and Emmy Award winner Dorothy Lyman will take part in the Spring Spark Theatre Festival NYC.

Hunterdon Hills Playhouse presents "Some Enchanted Evening". (HAMPTON, NJ) -- Hunterdon Hills Playhouse presents Some Enchanted Evening from April 7 through May 16, 2026. This is a celebration of songs that have become a part of our lives. We sing them in the shower and we sing them to entertain and amuse.

Passage Theatre Company to Hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for The Larry Hilton Stage on April 8th. (TRENTON, NJ) -- Passage Theatre Company is proud to host the naming of the Mill Hill Playhouse stage, to forevermore be known as "The Larry Hilton Stage," in honor of great donor, patron, producer and friend of the company Lawrence M. Hilton. Mr. Hilton was a beacon for Passage Theatre for nearly 40 years and a steward for all art, music, theater, and education in his hometown of Trenton, NJ.

Centenary Stage Company presents free Staged Reading of "Breeders". (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company presents Breeders as part of its Women Playwrights Series (WPS), with a free staged reading on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Centenary University campus, located at 715 Grand Avenue in Hackettstown. Centenary Stage Company presents "The Niceties". (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company presents The Niceties by Eleanore Burgess, running April 9-19, 2026 in the Kutz Blackbox Theatre of the Centenary University campus. The play follows an accomplished Ivy League professor holds routine office hours with an ambitious young student to discuss her thesis: if history is written by the victors, who tells the story of the oppressed?

Roundtable Theater Company presents "Jagged Little Pill". (FAIR LAWN, NJ) -- Roundtable Theater Company presents the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical Jagged Little Pill from April 9-12, 2026 at the George Frey Center for Performing Arts in the Fair Lawn Community Center. Set in modern-day Connecticut, this contemporary musical utilizes the genius of Alanis Morissette's 1995 album of the same name to tackle some of today's most important issues.

Middlesex College presents "Things I Know To Be True". (EDISON, NJ) -- Middlesex College's Visual, Performing, and Media Arts Department presents Things I Know To Be True by Andrew Bovell across two weekends (April 9-11 and April 16-18, 2026) at the Studio Theater in Edison. The play, directed by Anna Sycamore DeMers and Hope McCarthy, is a family story of new beginnings that inspects generational trauma and the tightness of the ties that bind us to our parents' imperfections.

TWO IN LOVE: A Two-Hander Festival. (NEW YORK, NY) -- ARE WE IN LOVE Productions presents the TWO IN LOVE: A Two-Hander Festival, a curated evening of intimate, actor-driven storytelling. Featuring three acclaimed two-person plays: Cindy Lou Johnson's Brilliant Traces directed by Shira Behore, Johnna Adams' World Builders directed by Klara Eales, and David Ives' Venus In Fur directed by Cnaan Lavkovich. The festival will play a three-week limited engagement at Theater Lab weekends from April 9-26, 2026.

Gateway Playhouse presents "Jesus Christ Superstar". (SOMERS POINT, NJ) -- Gateway Playhouse presents Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's iconic rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar weekends from April 9-19, 2026. Directed by Chip Garrison, the musical delivers an electrifying retelling of the final days of Jesus Christ through powerful music, raw emotion and explosive energy.

Bell Theater at Bell Works presents "Sexy Laundry" by Michele Riml. (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Bell Theater at Bell Works presents Sexy Laundry by Michele Riml from April 10-26, 2026. Armed with a copy of “Sex for Dummies,” Alice and Henry check themselves into a trendy spa hotel with a mission: to jump-start their 25-year marriage. Georgette Reilly Timoney plays Alice and Bill Timoney plays Henry.

Philadelphia Theatre Company presents the World Premiere of "Wilderness Generation". (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Philadelphia Theatre Company (PTC) presents the world premiere of Wilderness Generation, a new play by Pulitzer Prize-winning and Tony Award- nominated playwright James Ijames, whose breakout work Fat Ham earned the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and national acclaim. The production, directed by PTC Co-Artistic Director and Obie Award winner Taibi Magar, serves as the final installment of the Citywide James Ijames Pass series and runs from April 10 through May 3, 2026, at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre.

Brookdale Performing Arts Center presents Stephen Sondheim's "Company". (LINCROFT, NJ) -- Brookdale Performing Arts Center presents Stephen Sondheim's Company - performed in an immersive, in-the-round setting where it feels like you're a guest at Bobby's birthday party. This intimate staging pulls the audience into the heart of the celebration, surrounding you with music, laughter, and the beautifully messy moments of modern relationships. Performances take place across three weekends from April 10-26, 2026.

Kean University Theatre Department presents "The Bald Soprano" by Eugène Ionesco. (UNION, NJ) -- Kean University Theatre Department presents The Bald Soprano by Eugène Ionesco from April 10-18, 2026 in the Bauer Boucher Theatre Center. Nutley Little Theatre presents "True West". (NUTLEY, NJ) -- Nutley Little Theatre presents True West by Sam Shepard across three weekends from April 10-25, 2026. This American classic explores alternatives that might spring from the demented terrain of the California landscape.

Villagers Theatre presents "The Cottage" by Sandy Rustin. (SOMERSET, NJ) -- Villagers Theatre presents The Cottage by Sandy Rustin across two weekends from April 10-19, 2026.  This a romantic and (not quite) murderous comedy of manners. Fate, identity and marriage are called into question as a surprising, hilarious web of secrets unravels.

NJ Rep presents "Sins of the Mother" by Israel Horovitz. (LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- New Jersey Repertory Company (NJ Rep) will present Sins of the Mother by acclaimed playwright Israel Horovitz, directed by Evan Bergman, weekends from April 10 through May 3, 2026. Set in the tight-knit fishing town of Gloucester, Massachusetts, this play follows Douggie, a young man returning home to prove his roots among a group of rugged, fiercely loyal locals who live by their hands—and sometimes by violence.

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre presents comedian Atsuko Okatsuka's The Big Bowl Tour on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 7:30pm in the Matthews Theatre. She is an award winning comedian and actress making waves across the globe with her one-of-a-kind humor, boundless energy, and infectious charm.

Friday, April 10 - State Theatre New Jersey and The Stress Factory Comedy Club present Nimesh Patel. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey and The Stress Factory Comedy Club present Nimesh Patel: With All Due Disrespect Tour on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 7:30pm. Nimesh is a comedian and Emmy®-nominated writer who has risen the ranks to some of comedy's biggest stages due to his unassailable joke writing, prolific output, and innovative marketing.

Wednesday, April 8 - RVCC to Hold Film Screening, Discussion of "The Librarians". (BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- The English department and the Evelyn S. Field Library at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) will present a screening of the documentary, The Librarians, on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 4:30pm. The program, which is free of charge and open to the public, will be held in the Event Center at the College's Branchburg campus.

Wednesday, April 8 - Arden Children's Theatre presents "The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales". (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- This spring, Arden Children's Theatre invites families into a hilariously twisted world where classic fairy tales don't go quite as expected in its next production of the 2025/26 season, The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales (The Stinky Cheese Man). Based on the beloved book by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith, adapted by John Glore, the production brings the book's fractured fairy tales to life for kids and adults alike. Directed by Steve Pacek, the production runs on the Arden’s Arcadia stage with previews starting April 8, opening night on April 18, with performances running through May 31.

Thursday, April 9 - Holocaust Survivor Maud Dahme to Share 'A Survivor's Journey' at Ocean County College. (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Holocaust survivor, educator, and New Jersey resident Maud Dahme returns to the Ocean County College campus on Thursday, April 9, 2026 to share her story of being hidden by Christian families as a child in The Netherlands during World War II. This event is open to the public and admission is free.

Thursday, April 9 - Stockton Arts and Culture Summit Expanding to Two Days and Two Locations. (ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- Stockton University's annual Arts and Culture Summit will expand to two days this year and will host events on the school's Galloway and Atlantic City locations.

Friday, April 10 - MPAC presents An Evening of Alton Brown. Tickets range from $57-$230 (All fees included) and are available for purchase online. Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) is located at 100 South Street in Morristown, New Jersey.

Friday, April 10 - Fund for Irish Studies at Princeton University presents "After Oscar: Wilde between the li(n)es". (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton University's Fund for Irish Studies continues its 2025-26 series with a talk by Merlin Holland, the only grandson of famed writer Oscar Wilde, about his legendary grandfather on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 4:30pm in the James Stewart Film Theater at 185 Nassau Street in Princeton. Holland will draw from his extensive research, family history, and newly published book, After Oscar: The Legacy of a Scandal.

Gallery Bergen presents "OMG" featuring works by Graham Elliott. (PARAMUS, NJ) -- Gallery Bergen, the visual arts presentation space of Bergen Community College, presents a new exhibition by one of its extraordinary faculty members, illustrator and motion graphics creative Graham Elliott. "OMG" will feature two tents erected inside the gallery to house secular shrines to lost keys, sketchbooks, projections, "wallbooks," installations, and looped motion graphics and videos. Some of the pieces include collaborations with Graham's former and current BCC students. The exhibit is on display from February 26 - April 10, 2026.

Riverside Gallery presents Bong Jung Kim: Between Pulse and Horizon. (HACKENSACK, NJ) -- Riverside Gallery presents a solo exhibition, Between Pulse and Horizon, featuring assemblages and sculptural paintings of Bong Jung Kim. The exhibition runs from April 10-27, 2026. Kim's recent body of work juxtaposes traditional painting with found objects in the fashion of a techno abstract expressionism with mechanical, electronic, and organically painted parts.
