The Art House Gallery presents Expanded Metamorphosis: Contemporary Approaches to Process

originally published: 03/25/2026

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Art House Productions presents Expanded Metamorphosis: Contemporary Approaches to Process. This group exhibition, curated by Andrea McKenna, will be on view at the Art House Gallery from Saturday, April 4 through Sunday, April 26, 2026.

Expanded Metamorphosis brings together ten artists whose practices are rooted in transformation and experimentation. Moving beyond traditional artistic mediums, these artists engage with unexpected, industrial, organic, and repurposed materials as integral components of their work.

Through processes of alteration, accumulation, construction, and reinvention, familiar materials shift from utility to expression. This exhibition emphasizes not only the final visual outcome but also the active methodologies behind each piece. The works reflect a commitment to rethinking how art is formed, challenging conventional hierarchies of medium, and inviting viewers to reconsider the boundaries of contemporary practice.

At its core, Expanded Metamorphosis is about change—how transformation can reveal beauty, meaning, and value in unexpected places. The exhibition encourages curiosity and close looking, celebrating the creative potential found in pushing boundaries and reimagining how art is made.

Featured artists: Dan Payton, Eggman, Jan Huling, Jinstar, Jesse Aviv, Suzan Globus, Tay Dun, Tina Maneca, Valerie Huhn, and Vincent Minervini

Andrea McKenna, Gallery Director of Art House Productions, says: “I created this exhibition to highlight how artists evolve their work through the use of diverse and unconventional materials to shape their narratives. I visited most of the artists’ studios and personally selected each piece on view. It was a pleasure to connect with these artists on a more personal level and to experience their work within their creative environments. This insight allowed me to better understand their processes and gain a deeper appreciation of their work.”

There will be an Opening Reception on Saturday, April 11 from 6:00pm–8:00pm and an Artist Talk on Thursday, April 16 from 7:00pm–9:00pm.

Regular gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00pm–4:00pm. All artwork will be available for purchase in person at the Art House Gallery, located at 345 Marin Boulevard, Jersey City, NJ 07302, and online via the Art House Online Gallery.

ACCESSIBILITY: Large-print materials and tactile, descriptive tours are available upon request. For more information, please contact Andrea McKenna at [email protected].
