The dynamic North Jersey indie alt-rock duo Tiny Cities recently returned to the Red Hook section of Brooklyn to work again at Eric Sanderson’s Harbor Studios.
But this time, they brought along award-winning filmmaker John Decker to produce a video for their single, “Body Cast,” which is the Makin Waves Song of the Week.
As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “Body Cast“ also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on July 10 on “Radio Jersey” at ThePenguinRocks.com. If you miss it, you can tune in any time in the archives at The Penguin, Mixcloud and RadioJersey.
“When deciding on a locale to film a video and other visual content, it only made sense to get back to Red Hook, but this time with award-winning independent filmmaker, John Decker,” said Tiny Cities’ Dennis King. “We set out to capture an emotion and visual aesthetic that gave us a sense of freedom … a welcomed distraction to create. We couldn't have had a better experience working with John, as he connected to the song, the music and our personalities. We love his work with Renee Maskin and his other visual media so much, that we had to include him in this project. Luckily, he was excited about it and agreed to do it. We’re so buzzed to share this with everyone.”
As for the single, Eric not only produced and engineered, he also played bass, synth and organ, while Jeremy Gustin played drums and percussion. Like band mate Melissa Anthony, Dennis sang, wrote and plays guitar and piano.
Mastered at Knack Mastering by Kim Rosen, “Body Cast” reflects personal addictions and the constant fear they can cause.
“At times it can be exhausting, trying to fight it off and live without its head popping up when you least expect it,” Dennis said.
You can hear Tiny Cities play “Body Cast” and other songs live on July 13 at Happy Mondays at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park; Aug. 8, Small World Coffee, Princeton, and Aug. 17, Library Gazebo, Roxbury.
As Son of Dov, Dennis also will play solo on Aug. 22 at AutoDidact Brewery, Asbury Park, and Sept. 26 at Asbury Park Porchfest.
In the meantime, listen to “Body Cast on Apple Music and Spotify.
