FEATURED EVENTS

Broadway's Jasmine Forsberg and Benji Santiago star in McCarter Theatre’s World Premiere of "I & You: The Musical"  (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center announced that Jasmine Forsberg and Benji Santiago will play the leads in its season opener, the world premiere of I & You: The Musical. Based on Lauren Gunderson’s internationally acclaimed play I and You, the new musical reunites Gunderson with director Sarah Rasmussen, who helmed the play's original premiere in 2013 and now serves as McCarter's Artistic Director. The production runs September 13 through October 12, 2025.

Vivid Stage presents the World Premiere of "The Mighty Four"  (SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, presents The Mighty Four by Catherine Butterfield, a world premiere production about family, friends and politics, from October 2-12, 2025. In the play, the lives of a prominent liberal couple are upended when their son commits a horrific act of racial violence that is caught on video and goes viral.

CDC Theatre presents "The Shark Is Broken" - A Behind-the-Scenes Comedy About the Making of a Classic  It has been fifty years since Jaws became a summer blockbuster and now you can dive back into the waters surrounding Amity Island with The Shark Is Broken, a behind the scenes comedy about the making of a classic. CDC Theatre presents the play across two weekends (October 10-12 and October 17-19, 2025).

Algonquin Arts Theatre presents "The Rocky Horror Show"  (MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Algonquin Arts Theatre proudly announces the cast of its upcoming production of The Rocky Horror Show, running October 10–19, 2025. Audiences are invited to do the "Time Warp" again as this outrageous, rock-filled cult classic comes to thrilling life on the Algonquin stage. The production features Book, Music and Lyrics by Richard O'Brien.

interACT Theatre Productions presents "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde"  (MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- interACT Theatre Productions presents Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde weekends from October 10-25, 2025 Adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher from the novella The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, this is a new and shocking version of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale of depravity, lust, love and horror featuring the many faces of Mr. Hyde.

The Growing Stage presents "Diary Of A Wimpy Kid The Musical"  (NETCONG, NJ) -- The Growing Stage: The Children’s Theatre of New Jersey is thrilled to kick-off their 44th Main Stage Season with Diary of a Wimpy Kid weekends from October 10-26, 2025. Based on the book series by Jeff Kinney, the musical has a book by Kevin Del Aguila, music and lyrics by Michale Mahler & Alan Schmuckler. It is directed and choreographed by Jeorgi Smith (TGS Performer/Teaching Artist) with musical direction by Ethan Smith (TGS Teaching Artist).

EVENT PREVIEWS

Classic American Tales presents "Tales at the Dormer House"  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 12 through October 16, 2025, Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents "Tales at the Dormer House" in which guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories by American authors. The schedule is 4:00pm every Thursday at the historic Dormer House Bed and Breakfast (800 Columbia Avenue) in Cape May. Performances are on the front porch, weather permitting. Otherwise, they will be inside. Cost is only $12.00, cash at the door, and guests at The Dormer House and children ages 12 and under are free.

Leslie Odom, Jr. to Return as Aaron Burr in "Hamilton"  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Tony and Grammy Award-winning, three-time Emmy and two-time Academy Award-nominated performer Leslie Odom, Jr. will make a highly anticipated return to Broadway this fall in his critically acclaimed, Tony Award-winning role as Aaron Burr in Hamilton. The original star is set to reprise his wildly successful and iconic portrayal of Aaron Burr, which comes nine years after he took his final bow in July 2016.

Cape May Stage presents "Dutch Masters"  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Cape May Stage presents Dutch Masters by Greg Keller from September 12 to October 19, 2025. Set in 1992 New York City, Dutch Masters is a thought-provoking play that follows a chance encounter between two young men—one Black, one white—on a subway ride.

Bergen County Players to Open Season with "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical"  (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America's longest-running little theater companies, will launch its 93rd season with the area premiere of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. This Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical phenomenon, based on the inspiring true story of the artist's remarkable journey from young songwriter to superstar solo artist, will run at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell from September 13 through October 11, 2025.

Hunterdon Hills Playhouse presents "Never Too Late" by Sumner Arthur Long  (HAMPTON, NJ) -- Hunterdon Hills Playhouse presents Never Too Late by Sumner Arthur Long from September 16 through October 18, 2025. This is a hilarious farce about a man in his fifties who suddenly learns he’s about to be a father again.

SoHo Playhouse presents World Premiere of "(un)conditional" by Ali Keller  (NEW YORK, NY) -- SoHo Playhouse, in association with Hannah Jade Vickery, proudly presents the world premiere of its 2024 Lighthouse Series winner, Ali Keller's (un)conditional, directed by Ivey Lowe, running Off-Broadway September 19 – October 26, 2025 for 33 performances in a limited 6-week engagement at SoHo Playhouse, located at 15 Vandam Street in New York City.

Music Mountain Theatre presents the Broadway comic thriller "Deathtrap"  (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents Deathtrap weekends from September 26 through October 12, 2025. One of the biggest hits on Broadway, nominated for four Tony Awards including Best Play, the comic thriller Deathtrap elicits shrieks of pure terror and laughter.

Classic American Tales presents works by Alcott, Davies, and Poe  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- In October, Classic American Tales (CAT) presents four different events in two different Cape May locations: The Dormer House B&B and Rea's Farm. Events include their annual presentation of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart," with Gayle Stahlhuth.

Mary Bridget Davies to reprise Tony-Nominated Role in "A Night with Janis Joplin" at Bell Theater  (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Bell Theater at Bell Works in Holmdel has unveiled the final show in its 2025 season. The rock musical A Night with Janis Joplin will close out the season from October 3-19 following Hedwig and the Angry Inch from June 13-29 and Steel Magnolias from July 25 to August 10. This lineup offers everything from laughter to tears to some all-out rock 'n roll extravaganzas!

Center Players presents Neil Simon's "Barefoot In The Park"  (MILLSTONE, NJ) -- As its search for a permanent home continues, Center Players of Freehold will proudly present Neil Simon's classic comedy Barefoot in the Park as its first Signature Series production of the 2025-26 season. Directed by award-winning filmmaker and playwright Anthony Marinelli of Manalapan, the production runs from October 3-12, 2025 at the Millstone Performing Arts Center. This marks the first time Center Players has performed in the venue.

The Blue Moon Theatre presents "Ghost, the Musical"  (WOODSTOWN, NJ) -- The Blue Moon Theatre presents Ghost, the Musical across two weekends from October 3-12, 2025. Come see the blockbuster hit film reimagined for the stage.

Luna Stage's Off-Broadway Hit "Mrs. Stern Wanders the Prussian State Library" Comes Home to West Orange  (WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Launching Luna Stage's 2025-2026 season with a five-week run, the two-time Off-Broadway hit Mrs. Stern Wanders the Prussian State Library returns to Luna from October 3rd to November 2, 2025. Jenny Lyn Bader's play, praised by John McWhorter in the New York Times as "a lesson on perceiving humanity and even dignity in all people under even the toughest of conditions," was called of the Best Dramas of the Year by This Week in New York, selected as one of Cititour's Hot 5 Off-Broadway Shows, and named to Theaterscene's 2024 10 Best List.

Ego Actus Theatre Company to Present a Reading Series Showcasing Female Playwrights  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Ego Actus Theatre Company will bring six new plays to life in the Women's Drama Reading Series. The readings are free to the public and will take place on Monday nights from October 6 - November 10, 2025 at The Episocopal Actor's Guild (East 29th St, NYC 10016). Women’s Drama is in response to the lack of diversity in many NYC and national theatre companys seasons this year.

Thinkery & Verse reimagine "The Tragedy of Macbeth" in Colonial Middlesex County  (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Thinkery & Verse returns to the Church of St. John the Evangelist in New Brunswick with the World Premiere of The Tragedy of Macbeth, adapted by Dr. J.M. Meyer and Karen Eliza Alvarado and directed by Dr. J.M. Meyer. The production has a three-week limited engagement at the Assembly Hall at the Church of Saint John the Evangelist from October 8-25, 2025.

Art House Productions to present "Hamlet" directed by C. Rashee Stevenson in October  (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Art House Productions will present a mainstage production of Hamlet, directed by C. Rashee Stevenson, from October 9–26, 2025, at the Art House Theater in Jersey City. This bold reimagining of Shakespeare's classic tragedy fuses the original text with interpolated language from Les Nègres and Les Paravents by Jean Genet and works by Federico García Lorca—transforming the play into a cosmic crime thriller that plunges deep into grief, identity, and the metaphysical.

Vanguard Theater presents "Topdog/Underdog"  (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Vanguard Theater presents Topdog/Underdog from October 9–26, 2025. Experience the Pulitzer Prize–winning drama by Suzan-Lori Parks that redefined American theater. A darkly comic and deeply moving story of brotherhood, rivalry, and survival, this landmark play is a must-see for theater lovers and anyone drawn to powerful, intimate storytelling. 

Gateway Playhouse to Hold Open Auditions for Holiday Show "Scrooge the Musical"  (SOMERS POINT, NJ) -- Gateway Playhouse will host open auditions for the Christmas classic "Scrooge the Musical" on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The Gateway welcomes ages 16 and up to audition regardless of performance experience, race, gender identity, or theatrical background.

Chatham Players presents "Stage Kiss" by Sarah Ruhl  (CHATHAM, NJ) -- Chatham Players presents Stage Kiss by Sarah Ruhl across 3 weekends from October 10-25, 2025. Directed by Gabrielle Wagner Mann, the play is about art imitating life and life imitating art.

Chatham Players Kick Off Their 104th Season with Romantic Comedy, "Stage Kiss" by Sarah Ruhl  (CHATHAM, NJ) -- The Chatham Community Players will open their 104th season with the romantic comedy, Stage Kiss by Sarah Ruhl from October 10 – October 25, 2025 at The Chatham Playhouse. Art imitates Life. Life imitates Art. When two actors with a passionate history are thrown together as romantic leads in a forgotten 1930s melodrama, they quickly lose touch with reality as the lines between offstage and onstage begin to blur.

Spring Lake Theatre Company presents "Grease"  (SPRING LAKE, NJ) -- Spring Lake Theatre Company presents Grease across three weekends from October 10-26, 2025. Get ready to hand-jive your way back to Rydell High! Grease is the ultimate rock 'n' roll musical, bursting with high school romance, rebellious fun, and iconic hits. With slicked-back hair, poodle skirts, and plenty of attitude, this high-energy favorite will have you singing and dancing in your seat.

MTM Players presents "South Pacific" at Kelsey Theatre  (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Two love stories, threatened by the dangers of prejudice and war on a Pacific island during World War II, come to life on the stage of the Kelsey Theatre on the West Windsor Campus of Mercer County Community College when the MTM Players presents the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific, October 10-19, 2025.

Brundage Park Playhouse presents "Ride The Cyclone"  (RANDOLPH, NJ) -- Brundage Park Playhouse presents Ride The Cyclone across two weekends from October 10-19, 2025. In this hilarious and outlandish story, the lives of six teenagers from a Canadian chamber choir are cut short in a freak accident aboard a roller coaster.

Westfield Community Players presents "Much Ado about Nothing" set in the Jazz Age  (WESTFIELD, NJ) -- Westfield Community Players presents Shakespeare's Much Ado about Nothing with flappers and gangsters a la Al Capone? Performances run across three weekends (October 11-25, 2025).

Paper Mill Playhouse Announces Cast and Creative Team for "Bull Durham"  (MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse has announced the casting and the creative team for Bull Durham, the first production of their 2025-2026 season. The new musical begins performances Thursday, October 2 ahead of a Sunday, October 12 in a run that continues through Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Centenary Stage Company's NEXTStage Repertory presents "Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play"  (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company's NEXTStage Repertory will return for the 2025-2026 season with a production of Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play weekends from October 16-26, 2025. After the collapse of civilization, a group of survivors share a campfire and begin to piece together the plot of The Simpsons episode "Cape Feare" entirely from memory.

Starlight Performing Arts presents "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee"  (LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ) -- Surflight Theatre is pleased to present the Starlight Performing Arts production of the hilarious and heartwarming musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Performed by Starlight Performing Arts students in grades 8–12, this Tony Award-winning comedy will take the stage on Friday, October 17 at 7:00pm and Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 7:00pm.

MAC Players at the Middletown Arts Center present "URINETOWN"  (MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The MAC Players at the Middletown Arts Center present URINETOWN, the hilarious musical with a terrible name, running October 17–26, 2025. Audiences can expect a wickedly funny, fast-paced satire that takes on the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, environmental collapse, privatization of natural resources, bureaucracy, municipal politics and even the very conventions of musical theatre itself.

Ocean County College Repertory Theatre Company presents "Dracula"  (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Ocean County College Repertory Theatre Company will perform Dracula from October 17-19 and 24-26, 2025 in the Black Box Theater at the Grunin Center for the Arts, located on the main campus of Ocean County College in Toms River. This thrilling new adaptation by Steven Dietz restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker's classic novel to the stage.

Phoenix Productions presents "Evil Dead: The Musical"  (RED BANK, NJ) -- Phoenix Productions presents Evil Dead: The Musical on October 17-18, 2025 at The Vogel. This musical takes all the elements of the cult classics The Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 and combines them for one of the craziest, funniest, and bloodiest theatrical experiences of all time.

Summit Playhouse presents "The Mousetrap" by Agatha Christie  (SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Summit Playhouse presents The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie weekends from October 18 through November 2, 2025, at The Summit Playhouse. Step into the world's longest-running play — a classic whodunit packed with secrets, suspicion, and murder. Snowed in at a remote guesthouse, a group of strangers soon discovers that one of them is a killer.

Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey to Hold Toil and Trouble Trivia Night Fundraiser  (FLORHAM PARK, NJ) -- The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey (STNJ) invites theatre lovers, trivia buffs, and community members to experience a fun-filled evening at its Toil and Trouble Trivia Night Fundraiser, taking place on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Thomas H. Kean Theatre Factory in Florham Park. The event begins at 7:00pm.

The Theater Project's 2025 New Play Readings Series Continues on October 18th  (CRANFORD, NJ) -- The Theater Project will continue its fall 2025 New Play Readings and discussion series on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Cranford Community Center's 110-seat theater. Admission is free, with no registration required. The reading begins at 2:00pm.

"Blue Skies Yonder" by Peter Fenton to have Staged Reading at ArtWorks  (TRENTON, NJ) -- A free staged reading of Blue Skies Yonder, a new dark comedy by Peter Fenton, will take place at Artworks in downtown Trenton on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 2:00pm. This event will be the play's first public presentation. The reading is directed by Trenton actress, writer, and acting coach Monah Yancy and stars Fenton himself in the role of Harrison Fowler. Both Fenton and Yancy are members of the administrative staff of Passage Theatre, the only professional theater company in Trenton.

Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein"  (MADISON, NJ) -- The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey (STNJ) presents Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, written by David Catlin, from October 22 through November 16, 2025 at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre. On a stormy night in 1816, Mary Shelley gave birth to one of literature's most haunting and enduring legends...

East Lynne Theater Company presents World Premiere of "Sherlock Holmes: Scandals"  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Aligning with Cape May MAC's Sherlock Holmes Weekend, East Lynne Theater Company will present a full weekend of radio-style performances with "Sherlock Holmes: Scandals" from October 23-25, 2025 at Cape May Presbyterian Church.

Hudson Theatre Works presents Edward Albee's "At Home At The Zoo"  (WEEHAWKEN, NJ) -- Hudson Theatre Works is starting its season of plays, until the Performing Arts Center is completed, at the historic Weehawken Water Tower. The season begins with Edward Albee's "At Home At The Zoo" running from October 23 - November 8, 2025. This work combines Albee's groundbreaking 1959 short play The Zoo Story with his acclaimed prequel Homelife written in 2004.

American Theater Group presents "Our Town"  (UNION, NJ) -- American Theater Group (ATG) presents the Pulitzer Prize-winning Our Town by Thornton Wilder as the company's 2025-26 Season Opener. The production runs October 23 through November 9, 2025 at the DMK Theater in Union and at the Sieminski Theater in Basking Ridge.

NJCU's Center for the Arts presents "Assassins"  (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- NJCU's Center for the Arts presents Assassins across two weekends from October 24 - November 2, 2025. Our nation's most notorious assassins gather on stage to violently pursue a twisted American Dream. The musical features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and Book by John Weidman. The production is directed by Marc G. Dalio.

Crossroads Theatre Company presents "Crumbs from the Table of Joy" by Lynn Nottage  (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Crossroads Theatre Company (CTC) opens their season with Lynn Nottage's Crumbs from the Table of Joy from October 24 – November 23, 2025. The production is directed by Nataki Garrett, a brilliant educator, artistic leader and winner of the prestigious Doris Duke Artist Award. The play follows the Crump family after the passing of their beloved matriarch.

Bridge Players Theatre Company presents "The Memory of Water"  (BURLINGTON, NJ) -- Bridge Players Theatre Company presents The Memory of Water by Shelagh Stephenson weekends from October 24 to November 8, 2025. Three sisters reunite for their mother's funeral in this poignant and darkly funny play.

Bergen County Players presents "The Game's Afoot: Or Holmes for the Holidays"  (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players is thrilled to continue its 93rd season with Tony Award-winning playwright Ken Ludwig's uproarious whodunnit The Game's Afoot: Or Holmes for the Holidays. The limited run opens October 25 and runs through November 15, 2025. It takes place Christmas Eve 1936 and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, invites his fellow Broadway cast members to his lavish Connecticut mansion for an elegant weekend of revelry.
