George Street Playhouse to Host One Night Performance of "My First Ex-Husband" Written and Starring Joy Behar  (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse will host performances of My First Ex-Husband, written and performed by Joy Behar. Directed by Randal Myler, it will be presented on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center. Showtimes are 3:00pm & 7:30pm.

Premiere Stages presents the NJ Premiere of "Walden" by Amy Berryman  (UNION, NJ) -- Premiere Stages, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Kean University, presents the New Jersey Premiere of Walden by Amy Berryman, September 4-21, 2025 in Kean University’s Bauer Boucher Theatre Center. Directed by Charlotte Cohn, Walden will feature professional actors Allison Altman, Erin Germaine Mahoney and Anthony Vaughn Merchant.

Classic American Tales presents "Tales at the Dormer House"  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 12 through October 16, 2025, Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents "Tales at the Dormer House" in which guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories by American authors. The schedule is 4:00pm every Thursday at the historic Dormer House Bed and Breakfast (800 Columbia Avenue) in Cape May. Performances are on the front porch, weather permitting. Otherwise, they will be inside. Cost is only $12.00, cash at the door, and guests at The Dormer House and children ages 12 and under are free.

"Heathers, the Musical" returns to NYC this summer  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Producers Bill Kenwright LTD., Paul Taylor-Mills and Jerry Goehring are pleased to announce that after smash hit runs in London and on tour throughout the UK, a new production of Heathers the Musical will make its eagerly awaited return to New York City in June.

Challenge your inner sleuth in Cape May during "Clueless at the Physick Estate: Death of the Party"  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- When the guest of honor at the birthday party is found dead, everyone is suspect. Was it the daughter, the business partner, the maid, or someone else? Hear their stories and accusations and see if you can guess "whodunit" in the interactive murder mystery "Clueless at the Physick Estate: Death of the Party" this summer at the Emlen Physick Estate (1048 Washington Street) in Cape May, as this original mystery unfolds from room to room.

Renowned West End Actor, Rohan Tickell, to Star in "Every Brilliant Thing" at East Lynne Theater Company  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Acclaimed London-based actor Rohan Tickell is bringing his extraordinary talent to Cape May's award-winning, Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company, to star in Duncan Macmillan's globally celebrated play Every Brilliant Thing, running July 31 to August 30, 2025 at the new Clemans Theater for the Arts.

Surflight Theatre presents "Buddy, the Buddy Holly Story!"  (BEACH HAVEN, NJ) -- Surflight Theatre brings back the Broadway hit musical Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story! from August 19 to September 7, 2025. Collin Yates stars as Buddy Holly in this journey through the legendary musician's life over the years (1936-1959, respectively). It is Collin's first time on the Surflight Theatre stage.

Classic American Tales presents stories by Alcott and Bierce, fables from Africa, and a lecture on women in theater  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From August 21-28, 2025, Classic American Tales (CAT) presents three different events in two different Cape May locations: The historic Dormer House B&B and The Cape May Public Library.

"Twist of Faith" to Debut at 2025 Dream Up Festival  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Twist Of Faith, an original comedy-drama with music, will make its debut at Theater for the New City as part of the 2025 Dream Up Festival. The production will run for five performances from August 24-31 in the Johnson Theater. Set over the course of a single Jewish Sabbath, Twist of Faith follows the unexpected encounter between two deeply different young men—a meeting that challenges both of their assumptions and forever changes the trajectory of their lives.

Holmdel Theatre Company to Hold Auditions for "Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson - Apt. 2B"  (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Holmdel Theatre Company will hold auditions for their first full Main-Stage production since April 2024 — Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson - Apt. 2B by Kate Hamill. This is a sharp, sassy, modern twist on a classic mystery! The production will be directed by Tina Barone.

Set in New York City on the Brink of a New Millennium, "The Boys From Kingsbridge" Makes Its NY Premiere  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Set in New York City on the brink of a new millennium, the New York Premiere of The Boy From Kingsbridge captures the grit and energy of 1999. Written by Steven Sarao, the two-hander stars James Lorinz and Sarao as childhood friends who grow up to become NYPD officers. Directed by Anna Rebek, the play runs for seven performances from August 27 through September 5, 2025 as part of the Dream Up Festival at Theater for the New City.

East Lynne Theater Company Hosts Special Stockton University Night at 'Every Brilliant Thing'  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Cape May's award-winning, Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company, will host a special evening for Stockton University students to experience Duncan Macmillan's globally celebrated play Every Brilliant Thing on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Part of the "Talkback Thursday" mental health sessions that have taken place throughout the run of the show, this panel will feature Tara O'Keefe, MA, LCADC, RDT, CTP, Addictions Counselor Supervisor at Stockton University on the topic of "Creative Coping: The Arts and Mental Health."

The First Flight Theatre Company to Hold Auditions for "Night of the Living Dead"  (HO-HO-KUS, NJ) -- The First Flight Theatre Company will hold auditions for Night of the Living Dead by Lori Allen Ohm from the film by George Romero and John Russo at the Hermitage on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Auditions take place between noon and 3:30pm.

Ruth Stage presents "The Zoo Story" by Edward Albee  (OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- Ruth Stage presents Edward Albee's The Zoo Story at the historic Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove from September 4-6, 2025. This searing one-act revival stars three-time Emmy winner Christian Jules Le Blanc (The Young and the Restless) and acclaimed Off-Broadway actor Matt de Rogatis, best known for his explosive turn as Brick in Ruth Stage's Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

East Lynne Theater Company Debuts Cabaret at the Clemans Series with "No Regrets: An Evening with Edith Piaf"  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Experience the new East Lynne Theater Company as it debuts its original music series, Cabaret at the Clemans, with "No Regrets: An Evening with Edith Piaf" ("Je ne regrette rien: Une soirée avec Édith Piaf") starring multidisciplinary artist Yael Rasooly, from September 4-14, 2025 at the Clemans Theater for the Arts in Cape May.

Wharton Players to Hold Auditions for Beetlejuice JR.  (BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ) -- The Wharton Performing Arts School (PAS) will hold auditions for the upcoming Wharton Players production of Beetlejuice JR., a hilarious and heartwarming Broadway hit based on Tim Burton's beloved film. Auditions will be held on September 5-6, 2025 for students ages 8-15, with performances scheduled for December 5-7 in the Wharton Black Box Theater.

South Camden Theatre Company presents "A Good Farmer" by Sharyn Rothstein  (CAMDEN, NJ) -- South Camden Theatre Company presents A Good Farmer by Sharyn Rothstein weekends from September 5-21, 2025. This is a play about love, friendship, and finding the power to face what divides us.

The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents "Parade"  (PITMAN, NJ) -- The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents Parade weekends from September 5-28, 2025. mid religious intolerance, political injustice and racial tension, the stirring Tony Award-winning musical explores the endurance of love and hope against all the odds. It features a book by Alfred Uhry and a rousing, colorful and haunting score by Jason Robert Brown.

Somerset Valley Players presents "Funny Money" by Ray Cooney  (HILLSBOROUGH, NJ) -- Somerset Valley Players presents Funny Money by Ray Cooney weekends from September 5-21, 2025. Never has this master of farce been frenetically funnier! Henry A. Perkins, a mild- mannered CPA, accidentally picks up the wrong briefcase – one full of money.

Dunbar Repertory Company to Hold Auditions for Vocalists  (RED BANK, NJ) -- Dunbar Repertory Company will hold auditions for vocalists on Sunday, September 7, 2025. This is to be part of the 10th Anniversary of their Bi-Annual production of Black Nativity.

Leslie Odom, Jr. to Return as Aaron Burr in "Hamilton"  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Tony and Grammy Award-winning, three-time Emmy and two-time Academy Award-nominated performer Leslie Odom, Jr. will make a highly anticipated return to Broadway this fall in his critically acclaimed, Tony Award-winning role as Aaron Burr in Hamilton. The original star is set to reprise his wildly successful and iconic portrayal of Aaron Burr, which comes nine years after he took his final bow in July 2016.

Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents "Romeo & Juliet"  (MADISON, NJ) -- The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey (STNJ) presents Romeo and Juliet from September 10 to October 5, 2025 at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre on the campus of Drew University. This is one of the most enduring and influential tragedies in Western literature. The play is a cautionary tale about the tragic consequences of young love trying to exist amidst a world entrenched in hatred.

An Interview with Isaac Hickox-Young and Billie Wyatt  Set in a time of deadly civil division, Shakespeare's masterful tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, continues to hold up a heartbreaking mirror to our world. In a society ravaged by hate and violence, two young people unexpectedly find love. Isaac Hickox-Young and Billie Wyatt play the fateful couple in Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's production. Directed by Artistic Director Emerita Bonnie J. Monte, the production runs from September 10 through October 5, 2025.

NJ Rep to present World Premiere of "Can't Run Can't Dance" by Gregg Henry  (LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- New Jersey Repertory Company (NJRep) is proud to present the world premiere of Can’t Run Can't Dance, a wild new comedy by Gregg Henry - the prolific film and television actor best known for major roles in "Scandal," "Gilmore Girls," and Guardians of the Galaxy. This fresh theatrical caper, directed by Lisa James, will run from September 11 through October 5, 2025, with opening night set for Saturday, September 13 at 7:00pm.

The Ritz Theatre Company presents "Guys and Dolls"  (HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- The Ritz Theatre Company presents Guys and Dolls weekends from September 12-28, 2025.  Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. It is often hailed as the perfect musical comedy.

Players Guild of Leonia presents "Red Speedo" to Open New Season  (LEONIA, NJ) -- The Players Guild of Leonia is diving headfirst into their new season with Red Speedo, the razor-sharp, hilarious, and fast-paced play by acclaimed playwright Lucas Hnath (A Doll's House, Part 2). Performances will take place from September 12-28, 2025 at the Civil War Drill Hall Theater in Leonia, home of the Players Guild.

Bridge Players Theatre Company presents "Sistas: The Musical"  ​​​​​​​(BURLINGTON, NJ) -- Bridge Players Theatre Company presents Sistas: The Musical by Dorothy Marcic weekends from September 12-27, 2025 at the Broad Street United Methodist Church in Burlington. This is a joyful, soul-stirring celebration of Black women through music, memories, and sisterhood!

Two River Theater presents Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Links"  (RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater presents the world-premiere of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Links, stylishly reimagined by Tony Award® winning director Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder). Featuring numerous Tony Award® winners and nominees, both on and off stage, the production will run in the Joan and Robert Rechnitz Theater from September 13 - October 5, 2025.

Bergen County Players to Open Season with "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical"  (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America's longest-running little theater companies, will launch its 93rd season with the area premiere of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. This Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical phenomenon, based on the inspiring true story of the artist's remarkable journey from young songwriter to superstar solo artist, will run at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell from September 13 through October 11, 2025.

The Acting Company presents a Benefit Reading of "Love's Labour's Won" by Alice Scovell  (NEW YORK, NY) -- The Acting Company is proud to announce Loves’ Labour's Won, a hilarious Shakespearean sequel by Alice Scovell, staged by Award-winning director Brian Isaac Phillips. The all-star cast features Steven Boyer, Christian Conn, Ismenia Mendes, and Sarah Stiles. The one-night only play reading will take place on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 7:00pm at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues). All proceeds from the event will benefit The Acting Company.
