Disney's "The Lion King, Jr" comes to Jersey Shore Arts Center

Asbury Park Theater Company Summer Camp Program Culminates With Affordable Family-Friendly Production

originally published: 07/08/2025

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Asbury Park Theater Company is excited to showcase the students of their camp program with a full, family-friendly production of Disney's The Lion King, Jr. for three performances at Ocean Grove’s Jersey Shore Arts Center, July 18-20, 2025.

Based on the hit 1994 Disney movie and Broadway musical, this is the timeless tale of Simba, a young lion born to be king, who is forced to flee after the death of his father, Mufasa.

On the outskirts of the kingdom, Simba learns about identity, family, responsibility, and what he has to do in order to make things right for the Pride Lands. Featuring classic songs like “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “Circle of Life” and “Hakuna Matata,” in a comfortable, 75-min length presentation, the entire family will enjoy the performances by the company’s young, talented students ages 10-18!

The production is co-directed by Natalie Hayes-Scott and Jarrod Scott, with choreography by Natalie Hayes-Scott. William Whitefield serves as music director and camp coordinator, with performances by the Students of the Summer Musical Theater Camp: Amore Alphonse, Josie Desai, Juliet Dorsey, Alexia Gardiner, Joshua Johnson, Lucas Markert, Sophia Markert, Cruz Parziale, Lurick Perez, Bella Rutkowsky, Chase Rutkowsky, Nina Williams, and Zoe Wong.

All tickets for the show are $15 with general admission seating. Tickets are available for purchase online. The three performances will be July 18 at 7:00pm, July 19 at 6:00pm, and July 20 at 3:00pm, in the Palaia Auditorium of  the Jersey Shore Arts Center (66 South Main Street) in Ocean Grove, New Jersey.
