
(LEONIA, NJ) -- The Players Guild of Leonia presents The Marshall Playwrights Showcase from June 12-14, 2026. Named in honor of their long-time PGL member, Helene Marhsall, the showcase includes five original one-acts making for an unforgettable night! Works are by Keith Whalen, Conor Casey, Michael Gage Costa, and Chris Widney.
Performances take place Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13 at 8:00pm and Sunday, June 14 at 2:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online. The theater is located at 130 Grand Avenue in Leonia, New Jersey.
Cliché - written by Keith Whalen; directed by Frank Farrell. A stressed man in danger of losing his job sits down on a park bench and pours his heart out to a stranger, only to become exasperated with her unusual way of speaking. The cast includes Justin Krauss (He), Ann Grippo (She), and Deb Nolting (Cop).
The Three Husbands of Sarah Tilbury - written by Conor Casey; directed by Dori Persson. A dark comedy set in 1880s Victorian London. A restless father attempts to marry off his eldest daughter, whose suspicious past begins to unravel. The eccentricities of the Tilbury family reveal a history filled with macabre humor, emotional depth, and the absurdity of life’s tragedies. The cast includes Rob Laub (Archibald), Hannah Portmann (Lilly), Corrine Hower-Greene (Sarah), and Arthur Carlson (Captain Covington).
Hello, My Name Is Death - written by Michael Gage Costa; directed by Marissa Dolkart. A lighthearted, darkly comedic exploration of life, uncertainty, regret, hope, and fear of the unknown. The cast includes Gilda Bettini (Death) and Melissa Pascucci (Porter).
Under the Table - written by Keith Whalen; directed by Terri Caust. Parents and grandparents want the best for their families, but their methods do not always mesh. Sometimes they can even be a little devious getting their point across. The cast includes Corrine Hower-Greene (Becca), Dori Persson (Cathy), and Jonathan Reiss (Mick).
Jolly Wally - written by Chris Widney; directed by Frank Farrell. Fed up with the day-to-day humiliation of their aquarium act, a walrus tries to convince her complacent boyfriend to escape SeaLife Aquarium in Tallahassee and start a new life. The cast includes Arthur Carlson (Wally), Laura Ward (Molly), and Christiane Lange (Dot).
Founded in 1919, the Players Guild of Leonia is a non-profit, resident acting company at the Civil War Drill Hall Theater (built in 1859). They are New Jersey's oldest continuing community theater group, and five minutes from the George Washington Bridge and a short bus ride from Manhattan. The historic Civil War Drill Hall Theater is located at 130 Grand Avenue in Leonia, surrounded by the towns of Englewood, Fort Lee, Palisades Park and Teaneck, New Jersey.
