(WEEHAWKEN, NJ) -- To win one county tournament championship is exciting, but to win three consecutive is truly incredible. The Weehawken Township School District is ecstatic to announce an extraordinary accomplishment by the Weehawken High School Softball Team: their third consecutive Hudson County Tournament championship! The team cemented their status as a dominant force in the county with a victory over Bayonne HS, showcasing their talent and unwavering determination in their pursuit of this historic three-peat.
In a thrilling final showdown, the second-seeded Weehawken squad demonstrated why they are the reigning champions. Their potent combination of skillful pitching, powerful offense, and steadfast defense proved too much for a strong Bayonne team. This remarkable win marks a significant milestone for the Weehawken softball program, establishing a legacy of sustained excellence with this impressive three-year championship streak.
"When you win your first championship, they say it’s luck. The second win proves it wasn’t. But now, with this three-peat, there’s no denying the excellence, resilience, and commitment of our team. This is what sustained greatness looks like against the outstanding talent of teams in Hudson County," Eric Crespo, Superintendent of Schools, said with pride.
Head coach Raquel Roder proudly remarked, "This three-peat is a testament to the unwavering commitment and passion of these exceptional young women. They have not only defended their title but have now created a lasting legacy for our program.”
Athletic Director Brian Fischer said, “We are immensely proud of their achievement, especially considering that Bayonne is an excellent team that is well-coached. Every year, our program has been breaking records and making history, and it’s clear that their dedication and the leadership of Coach Roder have set a foundation for all their success."
The Weehawken Township School District extends its heartfelt congratulations to the parents, fans and especially to the players, Coach Raquel Roder, Coach Nicole Fleck, JV coaches, Athletic Director Brian Fischer, Principal Robert Ferullo, the Board of Education Trustees, Board President Jennifer Bolcar, Township Council and Mayor Richard Turner and all who have supported the softball team in achieving this historic three-peat.
