(TEANECK, NJ) -- Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco, members of the Bergen County Board of Commissioners, representatives from the Bergen County Parks Department, and representatives from the Township of Teaneck broke ground on a new clubhouse facility at Overpeck Golf Course on May 1, 2025 — launching a significant investment in one of the county's most popular public courses.

The $5.977 million project will deliver a modern, 2,774-square-foot clubhouse complete with a lobby and pro shop, food amenities, office space, and public restrooms, as well as a 1,197-square-foot exterior deck for outdoor use. The project also includes construction of a new 2,774-square-foot golf cart storage garage equipped with electric charging stations to support up to 60 golf carts — enhancing both operations and sustainability.

“When I became County Executive, I made a commitment that the preservation of open space, protection of our environment, and enhancement of our park system would be among my top priorities,” said County Executive Jim Tedesco. “Today’s groundbreaking is another example of that promise in action. Overpeck Golf Course is a jewel in our Parks System, and this investment will strengthen the golf experience, support continued growth in the game, and ensure that Bergen County remains a leader in public recreation.”

“Overpeck is one of the busiest and most played courses in Bergen County, and this investment will ensure it remains a top-tier experience for years to come,” said Commissioner Steven A. Tanelli, liaison to the Parks Department. “As demand for public golf continues to grow, we’re committed to making smart, forward-looking improvements that enhance our facilities while keeping them accessible and affordable for Bergen County residents.”

The project follows a record-setting year for Bergen County Golf. In 2024, more than 343,000 rounds of golf were played across the County’s public courses — the highest in County history — making golf one of the Parks Department’s largest revenue generators. With this investment, the County is committed to offering golfers a premium experience at a public course price.
