(UPPER MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Studio Players presents a limited run of The Laramie Project by Moisés Kaufman and the Members of Tectonic. The production is directed by Thomas J. Donohue II and runs from May 1-4, 2025.
In October 1998, a twenty-one-year-old student at the University of Wyoming was kidnapped, severely beaten, and left tied to a fence in the middle of the prairie outside Laramie, Wyoming. His bloody, bruised, and battered body was not discovered until the next day, and he died several days later in an area hospital. His name was Matthew Shepard, and he was the victim of this assault because he was gay.
It’s been 25 years since the groundbreaking production of The Laramie Project debuted off-Broadway. How have we progressed in the fight for equal rights and human decency for the LGBTQ+ community? How have we not? Join them for this seminal piece of American theatre.
