Middlesex County Recognizes Local Eagle Scout for Service Project Promoting REPLENISH

originally published: 08/11/2024

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ) -- On Friday, August 9, 2024, Middlesex County Commissioner Charles Kenny and REPLENISH Director Jennifer Apostol presented East Brunswick Resident and Eagle Scout Cole Philipczak with a formal resolution recognizing his Eagle Scout Service Project for REPLENISH.

Working with REPLENISH, Cole planned, fundraised, shopped for, and led a team to construct three 3-foot x 3-foot shadowbox displays and curated material to fill the boxes initially. The shadowboxes will showcase the work of REPLENISH and provide information about its history and impact. REPLENISH can change the material on display to reflect current events or happenings, and over the long term, it will be used to create attention and awareness for visitors.

This year, REPLENISH commemorates 30 years of serving county residents with the “REPLENISH 30 for 30 Challenge,” a quarterly food drive designed to increase awareness of food insecurity. The challenge asks groups to donate 30 items from their list of high-demand foods once per quarter. The next month for this challenge is October. The challenge intends to bring awareness to food insecurity, a year-round issue, during months when donations may not be top-of-mind.
