(SURF CITY, NJ) -- Going at fever pitch through the winter holiday rush? Cool down just a bit with the jazz guitar stylings of the Brian Betz Duo at the Ocean County Library Long Beach Island Branch on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Betz and fellow guitarist George Vanderbilt will present an ear-pleasing program of traditional jazz, bop, and blues. Showtime is 2:00pm.
Betz (shown at the top of this article), of the Philadelphia metropolitan area, and Toms River-based Vanderbilt hold dual degrees in music from Rowan University. Both have gained renown as players, composers and instructors.
Brian heads the Rowan University jazz guitar department, and has released six albums as a session leader and in duets with flautist Denis DeBlasio. In addition to concerts and music festivals, he conducts master classes and clinics throughout the United States.
George has spent more than 15 years as an educator, most recently at the Music Academy in Toms River. Fans of the Water Street Jazz Company and Grace Note String Ensembles will recognize him as a member during his 20-plus years as a professional.
