Hudson Theatre Works Opens Season With Early Pinter Masterpieces  (WEEHAWKEN, NJ) -- Hudson Theatre Works kicks open its 11th Season with a double bill of one-acts by Harold Pinter, one of Britain's most influential modern dramatists. PINTER x 2 features two of Pinter's early works: The Dumb Waiter and The Lover. Like in all of Pinter's plays, seemingly ordinary events become charged with profound (though ever-elusive) meaning, haunting pathos, and wild comedy. Performances take place weekends from November 2-19, 2023.

The Strollers presents "Children of Eden"  (MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- The Strollers presents Children of Eden across three weekends from November 3-19, 2023 at the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts. From musical theatre greats, Stephen Schwartz and John Caird, comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith... not to mention centuries of unresolved family business! It's about humanity - our first steps and fumbles, trials and triumphs, and ultimately how we live with one another on this earth.

SCTC Presents "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time"  Next up at the South Camden Theatre Company's Waterfront South Theatre is "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time," based on the award-winning 2003 novel by British author Mark Haddon and adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens. The production opens on Nov 3 and continues Friday and Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoons through Nov 19, 2023.

PHOTOS from "Elling" at Catalyst Theater Company  (PLAINFIELD, NJ) -- Catalyst Theater Company is presenting Elling, a life affirming comedy, across two weekends (November 3-5 and November 10-12, 2023) at duCret Center of Art in Plainfield. Elling is a 2007 theatrical adaption of the novel and film of the same name. Simon Bent adapted Ingvar Bjornsen's novel and the show was produced on both the West End and Broadway to critical acclaim. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

Paper Mill Playhouse presents "The Great Gatsby"  (MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse has announced the complete cast and creative team for its world-premiere production of The Great Gatsby, based on the iconic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The highly anticipated production will play October 12-November 12, 2023 at Paper Mill Playhouse (22 Brookside Drive, Millburn). Click here to see photos from the production.

Luna Stage presents the World Premiere of "Westphalia"  (WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Luna Stage presents the World Premiere of Westphalia by Helen Banner from October 21-November 12, 2023. Directed by Lila Rachel Becker on Luna's MainStage, Westphalia imagines a futuristic world in which citizenship can be bought and sold, and where artificial intelligence determines an individual's psychological fitness to make bold life choices.

Music Mountain Theatre presents "Elf, the Musical"  (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre (MMT) presents a special four-weekend run of Elf, the Musical from October 27 through November 19, 2023. Get in the holiday spirit with the family favorite based on the beloved 2003 New Line Cinema hit!

Bergen County Players to present "Master Class"  (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America’s longest-running little theater companies, is excited to present the intense and powerful Tony Award-winning Master Class, weekends from October 28 to November 18. Under the direction of Alan Demovsky, this dramatic and profound play by Terrence McNally, one of America's preeminent playwrights (Love! Valor! Compassion!, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Ragtime, The Full Monty), is regarded as "rich, vivid," and "satisfying" by The New York Times. The drama about famed opera singer Maria Callas will coincide this year with the 100th anniversary of her birth.

Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents Disney's "The Little Mermaid"  (PITMAN, NJ) -- Broadway Theatre of Pitman is presenting Disney's The Little Mermaid weekends through November 19, 2023. Based on the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, and the wildly popular Disney film, this musical staging of The Little Mermaid features a funny and fanciful book by Doug Wright, with the beloved score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Glenn Slater in an expanded but completely faithful form, featuring the rambunctious and persuasive "Under the Sea," the romantic expectation of "Kiss the Girl," and that anthem to longing and belonging, "Part of Your World."

Middlesex College presents "John Proctor is the Villain"  (EDISON, NJ) -- Middlesex College presents John Proctor is the Villain by Kimberly Belflower with 6 performances between November 1-11 at the Performing Arts Center in Edison. The play takes place at a rural high school in Georgia, a group of lively teens are studying The Crucible while navigating young love, sex ed, and a few school scandals.

East Lynne Theater Company presents "The Death of Sherlock Holmes?" radio-style production  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Before streaming and podcasts, even before TV, there was radio, which delighted families across the country with shows such as "The Shadow," "The Lone Ranger" and Orson Welles' "The Mercury Theatre on the Air." Actors would read their parts live in a studio, while sound effects would paint a picture of the scene and mood for the listeners, helping to immerse them into a world they could see using just their imaginations.

Black Box presents The State of Unions: Edward Albee's "Marriage Play," "Counting the Ways," and "The Perfect Marriage"  (TEANECK, NJ) -- While Black Box's ongoing monthly 'From A To Zoo' series covering all of Edward Albee's play will resume in December, this month brings an exclusive fundraiser workshop presentation to the stage in Teaneck! The State of Unions: Edward Albee's Marriage Play, Counting The Ways, and The Perfect Marriage, an (almost) never seen monologue about exactly what it sounds like, is the first pairing of these vital, rarely seen works from an American master.

Center Players to present "Meet the Oakleys" Historical Play  (FREEHOLD, NJ) -- Center Players presents Meet the Oakleys, an original historical play at historic Oakley Farms on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 2:00pm & 6:00pm. The historical dramatization is produced in partnership with the Heritage Arts Program of the Freehold Township Heritage Society and will serve as a fundraiser to benefit the nonprofit missions of Center Players and Oakley Farm.

State Theatre New Jersey presents "Chicago, the Musical"  (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents four performances of Chicago the Musical - Saturday, November 18 at 2:00pm & 8:00pm and Sunday, November 19 at 1:00pm & 6:30pm. Tickets range from $40-$105. Chicago has everything that makes Broadway great: a universal tale of fame, fortune, one show-stopping song after another, and spectacular dance numbers.

The Theater Project presents a Reading of "The Debate" by Joseph Vitale  (CRANFORD, NJ) -- The Theater Project will present a script-in-hand performance of The Debate (Act 1) by Joseph Vitale on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the Cranford Community Center. The presentation will be followed by a discussion with the playwright, director, actors and audience. The reading begins at 2:00pm. Admission is free.

Centenary Stage Company presents Disney's "The Little Mermaid"  (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- This holiday season, Centenary Stage Company presents Disney's The Little Mermaid from November 24 – December 10, 2023 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center of the Centenary University campus at 715 Grand Avenue, Hackettstown, NJ. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages.

The Theater Project presents "It's a Wonderful Life" – The Radio Play  (SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Theater Project presents It's a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play with live, in-person performances Thanksgiving weekend, November 25-26, 2023, at the Oakes Center Theater (120 Morris Avenue) in Summit. The Theater Project recreates the Lux Radio Theater circa 1947 as twelve adult actors, four kids, a musician and one extremely overworked sound technician prepare for the big radio broadcast of the story made famous in the Frank Capra film. Audiences experience the tears and laughter of It's a Wonderful Life performed live, along with the novelty of seeing the backstage mechanics of an old-time radio broadcast.

(BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- The Light Opera of New Jersey presents H.M.S. Pinafore from July 11-12, 2026 at the Sieminski Theater Cultural Arts Center. This is a comic operetta by Gilbert and Sullivan that satirize the British class system.
