Monmouth University's Center for the Arts presents Paul Mecurio's "Permission to Speak"

(WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- Monmouth University's Center for the Arts has announced the arrival of Paul Mecurio's critically acclaimed Off-Broadway show, Permission to Speak for a one-night-ONLY exclusive performance at the Pollak Theatre on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 8:00pm. This promises to be a night of laughter, reflection, and unforgettable entertainment.

Permission to Speak, nominated for the prestigious “Most Unique Show” Broadway Alliance Award, is an uproarious and thought-provoking one-man show that showcases the remarkable talents of Emmy Award-winning comedian Paul Mecurio. Known for his sharp wit, insightful humor, and captivating storytelling, Mecurio improvises with audience members by bringing them on stage and talking with them about who they are, their lives, interests, personal experiences and what they honestly think without feeling boxed in by the confines of contrived political correctness or fear of offending. Mecurio's sharp comedic timing, relatable anecdotes, and ability to tackle complex subjects with humor make this show a must-see event.

The show was directed and produced by Frank Oz, legendary director of such films as “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” “Bowfinger,” “Stepford Wives,” and “Little Shop of Horrors.”

Tickets range from $30-$40 are available for purchase online or through the Monmouth University Box Office at 732-263-6889. The Pollak Theatre is located at 400 Cedar Avenue in West Long Branch, New Jersey.

Paul Mecurio has established himself as a true comedy luminary, having received accolades for his stand-up comedy, writing, and television appearances. Paul is an Emmy & Peabody Award winning comedian for his work on The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart, The Late Show w/Stephen Colbert, making recurring appearances on The Late Show, other national shows and his own comedy specials. He is also an accomplished actor, hosts the critically acclaimed podcast Inside Out w/Paul Mecurio, an award-winning writer and appears regularly as a commentator on news and sports outlets including, CNN, MSNBC, CBS Sunday Morning, Fox News, HLN and ESPN.
