"ROEBLING: The Story of the Brooklyn Bridge" Comes to Kelsey Theatre
 

(WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre and Theater To Go will present the stage drama ROEBLING: The Story of the Brooklyn Bridge, written by Hamilton, NJ, resident Mark Violi and directed by Lawrenceville's Ruth Markoe, from October 20-29, 2023 on MCCC's West Windsor campus.

 



The Theater Project Opens Submissions For 22nd Annual Young Playwrights Competition
 

The Theater Project, a leading incubator for rising talent and a showcase for New Jersey artists, is once again reaching out to creative young people for its annual Young Playwrights Competition. Winners receive cash prizes and see their work performed by professional actors at the Zoom awards ceremony in the spring. The honorable mentions are awarded gift certificates.

 



Mile Square Theatre presents the World Premiere of "Funny, Like An Abortion"
 

(HOBOKEN, NJ) -- Mile Square Theatre will kick off their 20th anniversary season with the World Premiere of Funny, Like An Abortion, directed by Madsie Flynn, from October 18 through November 5, 2023. This is a hilarious political comedy about the power of friendship. In a post-Roe world, Monroe finds herself knocked up and throws herself a surprise abortion party.

Bergen County Players to present "Master Class"
 

(ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America’s longest-running little theater companies, is excited to present the intense and powerful Tony Award-winning Master Class, weekends from October 28 to November 18. Under the direction of Alan Demovsky, this dramatic and profound play by Terrence McNally, one of America's preeminent playwrights (Love! Valor! Compassion!, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Ragtime, The Full Monty), is regarded as "rich, vivid," and "satisfying" by The New York Times. The drama about famed opera singer Maria Callas will coincide this year with the 100th anniversary of her birth.

2023 Teaneck International Film Festival Preview
 

(TEANECK, NJ) -- The 18th annual Teaneck International Film Festival will be held in partnership with the Puffin Foundation, Ltd., November 5-12, 2023.  This year “the film festival with a social conscience” will be dedicated to the late Bob McGrath, beloved resident of Teaneck and Sesame Street. The festival will be hybrid with both in-person (live) screenings and virtual screenings.

57th Annual New Jersey Senior Citizens Art Show
 

(EAST WINDSOR, NJ) -- The public is invited to enjoy the 57th Annual New Jersey Senior Citizens Art Show now on display in the hall galleries of the main building at Meadow Lakes Senior Living, 300 Meadow Lakes, East Windsor. The exhibit, featuring more than 280 works of art created by New Jersey artists over the age of 60, will remain on display through Thursday, October 26, 2023. Artists from 19 of New Jersey's 21 counties have work on display in this year's exhibit.

Ocean County Artists Guild Displays "New Creations" at Ocean County Library Toms River Branch
 

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Ocean County Library Toms River Branch is pleased to present "New Creations," images by members of the Ocean County Artists Guild (OCAG), throughout the month of October. The exhibit occupies the Second Floor Gallery. Twenty artists are represented in the display of oils, acrylics, photography, silverpoint, watercolors, pen-and-ink, and mixed media.

New Jersey State Council on the Arts Opens Funding Applications for Its Largest Grant Programs
 

(TRENTON, NJ) -- The New Jersey State Council on the Arts has released the guidelines for its biggest grant program, opening the application process to arts organizations across the state for the first time in five years. The Council previously extended its three-year grant cycle an additional two years in order to support stability in the arts sector, which was significantly impacted by the pandemic. Recognizing the vital role the arts play in economic growth and community development, Governor Murphy and the Legislature nearly doubled the Council's state appropriation to $31.9 million dollars starting in Fiscal Year 2022. The deadline to apply is December 12, 2023.

 



6th Annual Pork Roll Palooza to Take Place in Phillipsburg
 

(PHILLIPSBURG, NJ) -- One of the area's most anticipated – and fun – fall events is just around the corner. The family-friendly fest called Pork Roll Palooza is braced to take over Shappell Park and surrounding streets. Norwescap is proud to host the 6th Annual Pork Roll Palooza, in partnership with the Phillipsburg Downtown Association, on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 11:00am to 5:00pm at Shappell Park, 353 South Main Street.
