Bergen County Players to Open Season with "Rent" (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America's longest-running little theater companies, will open its 91st season on September 9 with Jonathan Larson's RENT, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning rock musical that shaped a generation of audiences. Performances begin Saturday, September 9 and will run weekends through Saturday, October 14 at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell with shows on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:00pm.
McCarter Theatre presents "Bulrusher" (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center opens their 2023-2024 Theatre Series with Eisa Davis' Bulrusher, a transformational coming-of-age story filled to the brim with passion, humor, and even a touch of magic; on stage in the Berlind Theatre from September 13 – October 7, 2023. This is a co-production with Berkeley Repertory Theatre, where the production will move after its run in Princeton.

Ms. Lauryn Hill To Celebrate 25th Anniversary of Debut Solo Album with Tour, co-headlined by The Fugees (NEWARK, NJ) -- 5x Grammy winner and one of the most notable hip hop, R&B, and fashion/style icons of all time, Ms. Lauryn Hill, has announced The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 25th Anniversary Tour to commemorate her massively influential 1998 debut solo album. MLH will be performing the album, revisiting the musical sentiment and nostalgia that caused it to resonate with so many fans. The 17 date tour will hit arenas around the world and includes three local shows co-headlined with The Fugees who have reunited for their first tour in years: Tuesday, October 17 at the Prudential Center in Newark; Thursday, October 19 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY; and Monday, October 23 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. Ms. Hill will also perform at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City's Central Park on Saturday, September 23.
Makin Waves Album of the Month: "You, Me & The Make Three" by The Make Three Fans of power trios, such as Husker Du, Nirvana and Green Day will love the local supergroup The Make Three's debut album, "You, Me & The Make Three," on Mint 400 Records. The 10 songs mainly were written by singer-songwriter-guitarist Jerry Lardieri while crafting a Mint 400 album for his main band, The Brixton Riot. But he had enough great tunes left over to make the gritty but gorgeous "You, Me & The Three" with The Anderson Council pals Peter Horvath on bass and vocals and the band's former drummer Chris Ryan.

Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company to Take Part In Dance on the Lawn (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company will be a part of Dance on the Lawn on September 9, 2023 at 3:00pm, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church (73 S. Fullerton Ave) in Montclair. The Company will be performing one of Nai-Ni Chen's most beautiful duet, created in collaboration with the world renowned Ahn Trio, Lullaby for my Favorite Insomniac, part of their 2015 production, Temptation of the Muses, which toured 7 states across America. The dance will be performed by company members: Esteban Santamaria and Rio Kikuchi. Dance on the Lawn is free.

Art House Gallery presents "Disintegration" - new work by Andrea McKenna (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Art House Productions presents new work by Art House's own Gallery Director, Andrea McKenna, in the Art House Gallery, September 8th through October 1st, 2023. In this exhibit, which will also be a part of JC Fridays, McKenna will present new work created since January of this year. Her installation is about transcending identity, loss, and the realm of the beyond. The exhibit was curated by Lucy Rovetto.
