'And a Nightingale Sang' Looks at War Affecting Family Life
 

Now playing at the Shakespeare Theatre Of New Jersey (STNJ) is the play And a Nightingale Sang. Written in 1977 by British playwright C.P. Taylor, it has been seen both as a play and a film. The play is about a family living in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England during World War II. It has some humor to help balance out some very intense scenes about the war and what it is doing to the Scott family. This production includes songs from that era played by a family member on the home piano

Montclair Jazz Festival Announces 2023 Lineup for September 9th Downtown Jamboree
 

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- The 14th annual Montclair Jazz Festival produced by the acclaimed Jazz House Kids, has announced the lineup for their 2023 Downtown Jamboree on Saturday, September 9th. This year, headliners include Regina Carter, Antibalas, Steve Turre, Melanie Charles, Person to Person with Eric Person and Houston Person, Edmar Castaneda, Vince Ector, Michael Mwenso and the Shakes, Jazz House Collective and Christian McBride, the festival's music director and curator.

The Gaslight Anthem have shared a new song "History Books," available now at all DSPs and streaming services on their own Rich Mahogany Recordings label via Thirty Tigers. The heavy-hearted track – which sees frontman Brian Fallon trading duet vocals with longtime band champion and fellow New Jerseyan Bruce Springsteen – is accompanied by an official music video (directed by Kelsey Ayres) streaming now on YouTube. Art House Gallery presents "Vertical Horizons" by Robert Koch
 

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- In celebration of Jersey City PRIDE month, Art House Productions presents new work by Jersey City-based steel artist Robert Koch in the Art House Gallery, August 5 - August 27, 2023. At this exhibit, Koch will present a variety of steel sculptures as well as mixed-media paintings.

The interior designer from Jackson took inspiration from her interest in fashion in 2010, creating Flair Designs LLC, specializing in costuming such as masks, headpieces, and corsets. During New York Fashion Week 2010, Flair Designs successfully debuted for Shekhar Rahate and other celebrities.

The field may be reached by turning onto Robert K. Chester Way off of River Road.  The event is free-of-charge and open to the public.

Northern New Jersey Community Foundation Awarded AARP's Highly Competitive 2023 Community Challenge Grant
 

(HACKENSACK, NJ) -- The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation (NNJCF) announces the organization received a Flagship Grant through the 2023 AARP Community Challenge, one of eight grantees selected in New Jersey. The NNJCF, a nonprofit organization based in Hackensack, New Jersey, joined 310 organizations awarded a grant out of 3,600 applications received nationwide in the largest group of grantees awarded to date with $3.6 million funded.
