Theater to Go announces 2023-24 Season

(WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Theater to Go has announced their 2023-24 season at the Kelsey Theatre at Mercer County Community College.  They will present three works in a season that salutes New Jersey playwrights. Plays include Roebling: the Story of the Brooklyn Bridge by Mark Violi; A Lovesong for Miss Lydia by Don Evans; and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change by Joe DiPietro.

October 20-29, 2023 - Roebling the Story of the Brooklyn Bridge. Written by Mark Violi this story tells the amazing journey of the Roebling family of Trenton to becoming the leaders of suspension bridge technology. It is an amazing story of the men who built the Brooklyn Bridge and Emily Roebling, the woman who finished it. Featuring a talented cast and crew, this play is sure to captivate audiences with its powerful storytelling and stunning visuals.

Mark Violi of Hamilton NJ has written over ten feature screenplays. He’s had three previous feature film script options with two scripts entering development deals. His two award-winning stage dramas have been produced a combined six times. has written several plays, including the acclaimed Roebling, The Story of the Brooklyn Bridge as well as Riding the Comet, which was a selection of the 2017 Summerfest series in NYC.He is a member of The Dramatists Guild of America.

February 9-11, 2024 - A Lovesong for Miss Lydia by the late Don Evans in honor of Black History Month. They will be working in conjunction with his son Todd Evans, founder of the Don Evans Players of Willingboro, NJ. This is the story of Lydia Frazier, a widow in her seventies and a pillar of her church, who is living out her life with quiet dignity in her modest Philadelphia home. until she decides to take in a boarder. Her roomer turns out to be the charming and apparently unscrupulous Mahlon, who loses no time in working his wiles on his trusting, vulnerable landlady, despite the cautious warnings of her well-meaning friends.

Don Evans was a prolific playwright and member of the Black Arts movement of the 1960's and 70's. He focused on the African-American experience and was department chair of African American studies at the College of New Jersey which named their black box theater after him.He also taught at Princeton and Rutgers over the years. He was a founder of Trenton's Players Company. Mr. Evans passed away in 2003.

March 15-24, 2024 - I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change by Joe DiPietro is a witty musical revue that tackles modern love in all its forms. the first date to marriage, children, and the twilight years of life. Told in a series of vignettes and songs I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change ttraces the overall arc of relationships throughout the course of a life. An insightful and hilarious musical, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change will have audience members shouting, “This is my life!”

Joe DiPietro, the American playwright, author and  lyriicist, was born in Teaneck, NJ. He is best known for the Tony Award-winning musical Memphis, for which he won the Tony Awards for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score as well as for writing the book and lyrics for the long-running off-Broadway show I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. He is also known for his charming Play Over the River and Through the Woods.



Theater to Go was founded in 1992 as R&R Productions. Their inaugural production was Murder on the Campaign Trail which they performed on an antique steam train in New Jersey. Since then they have entertained thousands of people and have traveled across the country to perform for corporations, conventions, fundraisers and in public and private venues.

As New Jersey's premier, full service theatrical production company, Theater to Go, is known for Murder Mysteries and Interactive Comedy Theater. Their productions rely heavily on improvisation and audience participation, which allow them to customize their shows to fit the particular needs of our clients. Their audiences become integrated into the show and this means that they can adjust to the needs of our audience to include them in the story. All their murder mysteries are presented with a humorous slant as you meet their cast of characters, get entangled in a web of intrigue and lies and become involved in a murder investigation where you, the audience, are asked to help solve the crime. Of course the ones who help them the most are rewarded. All of their productions are easily adaptable to any environment, including restaurants, hotels, picnics, parties or private homes. Their home base is Lawreceville, in Central New Jersey. But they travel locally, regionaly, even nationwide. They bring the fun to you!
