Music Mountain Theatre presents "Something Rotten" (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Welcome to the Renaissance and the outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce, Something Rotten, opening at Music Mountain Theatre on May 26 with performances running weekends through June 18, 2023. Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of the biggest star of the era, everyone's favorite bard: William Shakespeare. Something Rotten features large song and dance numbers and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters!

Woodbury to Hold Juneteenth Jubilee (WOODBURY, NJ) -- On Friday, June 9, 2023, Woodbury Juneteenth and Music at Bunker Hill present a Juneteenth inspired program that will present how African/African American (AA) Spirituals have had an influence on music throughout the decades leading up to modern day music. Dr. Lourin Plant, Director of Collegium Music at Rowan University, will be directing and performing his original program with four of his colleagues. Attendees will learn to listen to their favorite genre of music and hear the influences of African/African American Spirituals. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of AA Spirituals and respect for this genre of music. They will show the continued relevance of the Spirituals with audience participation and a Q&A.

Brick City Comedy Revue presents North to Shore Edition with Chris Gethard (NEWARK, NJ) -- Brick City Comedy Revue, Newark's premier comedy showcase, has joined the festivities of North to Shore with a special edition on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Kilkenny Alehouse. A Spot for Frog & The Chosen One screen at the 2023 New Jersey International Film Festival on Friday, June 2 A Spot for Frog directed by Evan Bode and The Chosen One directed by Elazar Fine, may at first seem like two short films that have nothing in common. Look at the difference between the protagonists alone; one is a non-binary teenager and the other is an adult Hasidic man. However, upon closer viewing, both films grapple with the age-old question of identity, and consider if we ever truly find a place to call our own.

Visual Arts Center of New Jersey Receives Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey (VACNJ) recently received a matching grant of $150,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) that will assist in the renovation of VACNJ's Main and Mitzi & Warren Eisenberg Galleries. This grant award was part of the more than $35 million dollars recently awarded by the NEH for 258 humanities projects nationwide.
Hunterdon Art Museum Explores Ceramic Innovation, Digital Existence, Poetic Cosmic Lore in New Exhibitions (CLINTON, NJ) -- The Hunterdon Art Museum has unveiled three exhibitions on view to the public through September 3, 2023. "Claybash 2023" explores contemporary ceramics from artists across the U.S., "Nona Hershey: In the Cloud" echoes the pervasiveness of digital technology through watercolors, and "Monica Ong: Planetaria" presents the intricate confluence of poetry and visual art within the ancient Chinese cosmos.
