(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Eliyana Abraham, artistic director of Princeton Summer Theater, announced the organization’s 2023 season which will run from June 15-August 4th, featuring three mainstage works and the presentation of two new works including the annual children’s show.
Founded in 1968, Princeton Summer Theater is a semi-professional summer stock theater company located in Princeton University’s Hamilton-Murray Theater. It recently won the 2019 JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Award for “Best Small Theater.” Notable alumni include Tony Award-winning actress Bebe Neuwirth (Chicago), Tony Award-winning producer Geoff Rich (Avenue Q), and Hollywood actor William Hootkins (Star Wars, Batman).
The summer begins with Kate Hamill’s playful adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride and Prejudice, directed by Eliana Cohen-Orth ’21. Next in the season is contemporary musical Ghost Quartet, directed by BT Hayes ’22 with book, lyrics, and music by Dave Malloy, featuring a cast of four actor-musicians telling a strange yet moving ghost story. The third show of the summer is Jihae Park’s Peerless, a darkly comedic adaptation of Hamlet, directed by PST’s artistic director Eliyana Abraham ’23. The final show of the season will be a workshop of new work We Ride Upon Sticks by PST alumni Allison Spann ’20 and Maeli Goren-Wilson ’15, based on the novel of the same name by Amy Quan Barry.
The season will also feature a new children’s comedy by Sam Melton ’23.
