Artist Collective Troupe presents a Teen-Led Production of "Godspell Jr."

originally published: 03/01/2023

(POINT PLEASANT, NJ) -- The Artist Collective Troupe will present their first ever teen-led production, “Godspell Jr.,” at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Point Pleasant on March 10 and 11.

Prepare ye for the timeless tale of friendship, loyalty, and love based on the Broadway musical that inspired a generation!  A group of disciples help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and a hefty dose of comic timing.  An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, are employed as the story of Jesus’ life dances across the stage.  Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life onstage.

In keeping with ACT’s mission to provide educational opportunities, “Godspell Jr.” is an entirely teen-led production; both the cast and production staff are headed up by talented young people ages 11-19.  The production team of “Godspell Jr.” includes music director Ashley Burroughs and choreographer Susie Guida, who are also both co-directors for the show, and stage manager Alyson Mullin.  Eric Pertgen and Chelsea Carlson are acting as adult advisors.

Performances will take place on Friday March 10 at 7:00pm, and Saturday March 11 at 2:00pm & 7:00pm.  Doors open 30 minutes prior to the performance.  Shows will take place at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church located at 708 Route 88, Point Pleasant NJ.

Tickets are available for purchase online and at the door for $10.00.  Proceeds from the show will be donated to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

The Artist Collective Troupe is a nonprofit organization created to serve the community through theatrical and musical performances, artistic events, education opportunities, workshops, and more.  Founded in 2021, ACT’s mission is to highlight the arts within their community and to give back by hosting fundraisers and supporting other local nonprofits.  Their goal is to provide educational, collaborative, and creative opportunities for artists and performers of all ages throughout the Ocean and Monmouth County area.
