Elizabeth Winterbourne wins the Carteret Battle of the Bands
 

Arizona-raised, New York City-based singer-songwriter Elizabeth Winterbourne won $1,500 from the solo portion of the Carteret Battle of the Bands on Sept. 18 during the borough’s annual Charity Carnival.

 



Hoobastank, Lit, Alien Ant Farm, and Kristopher Roe come to MPAC
 

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- SoCal alt/rock bands Hoobastank and Lit will be coming to the Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) on Tuesday, October 18 at 7:00pm as part of their “Tried-N-True” tour, alongside Alien Ant Farm and The Ataris’ vocalist Kristopher Roe. Tickets range from $39-$79.

 



Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra Opens Season On October 2nd
 

(PLAINSBORO, NJ) -- The Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra, American Prize Award recipient for orchestral performance, will present its Season Opening Concert on Sunday, October 2 at 7:00pm.  The orchestra is conducted by its music director, Ms. Chiu-Tze Lin. This concert is for all ages, and it will be held at the Princeton Alliance Church at 20 Schalks Crossing Road, Plainsboro, New Jersey, at the intersection of Scudders Mill Road and Schalks Crossing Road.  

 



State Theatre presents Three Dog Night
 

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The newly renovated State Theatre New Jersey presents legendary band, Three Dog Night on Friday, October 14 at 8:00pm. Three Dog Night has been entertaining generations for over 50 years with their live performances and hit songs such as “Black and White,” “Never Been to Spain,” “Mama Told Me (Not to Come),” and “Joy to the World.”  Tickets range from $29-$99.

Lizzie Rose Music Room is Running a GoFundMe Campaign Seeking Funding to Reopen It's Doors After Two Years of Outdoor Shows
 

(TUCKERTON, NJ) -- Since 2014 the Non Profit, volunteer run Lizzie Rose Music Room has been providing its audiences and the music community with a very special, curated selection of artists performing in an intimate setting. The 70 seat room is housed in an historic Victorian era mansion “down the shore”, 30 minutes north of Atlantic City in Tuckerton, NJ. Much like Preservation Hall in New Orleans the focus is music and only music, there is no bar to wait 6 people deep at or food for purchase.

Just steps away from the Adriatic, along a row of what feels like hundreds of different hotels, burning brightly on a corner lot, the Hotel Admiral offers something else along with its comforts, food, drink and water views. The celebration of rock'n'roll and art here is incredible. MCR Reunion Tour: The Resurrection of the Black Parade
 

(NEWARK, NJ) -- My Chemical Romance brought their Reunion Tour to Prudential Center on September 20, 2022 and Jennifer Petrics was there to cover the show and take photos. The Homeless Gospel Choir and Thursday opened the night. After more than a decade without touring (and band-made jokes that the Black Parade Is Dead), the parade marches on.  And My Chem fans couldn’t be happier to be in the procession.

Jon Caspi Talks About New Version of "Raise 'Em High", New Beer, and New Label
 

On September 23, 2022, New Jersey punk/americana rock outfit Jon Caspi & The First Gun shared a new version of their fan favorite barroom sing-along song, “Raise ‘Em High!”, featuring Jesse Malin on vocals, and Dez Cadena (known from Black Flag and The Misfits) on guitar. The band also announced a new EP titled, Raise 'Em High! and other delights, which will feature the new version of the song. It will be released on October 14 via Fake Chapter Records. The single will also be coming out as a 7" in March, 2023.

Based on Long Beach Island for a long time and now Los Angeles, roots-rockin’ singer-songwriter James Deely will release his latest album, the 10-song “This Train Is Running Out of Track,” during the winter holidays.

JKC Gallery Artist Talk Series 'Photo Show Live' Welcomes 'Portraits and Dreams' Artist Wendy Ewald on Thursday
 

(TRENTON, NJ) -- “Photo Show Live,” the new lunchtime photography talk at Mercer County Community College’s (MCCC’s) James Kerney Campus Gallery (JKCG) at 137 North Broad Street in Trenton, will take place September 29 from noon to 1:00pm. This month, Director of JKC Gallery Michael Chovan-Dalton features Wendy Ewald, an artist who has spent more than 40 years collaborating with children, families and teachers all over the world. During this session Ewald and Chovan-Dalton will discuss Ewald’s books “The Devil Is Leaving His Cave” and “Portraits and Dreams” as well as Ewald’s film, “Portraits and Dreams” that aired on PBS and which will be running at JKC Gallery.

 



New Jersey State Council on the Arts Awards Grant to the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey
 

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey (VACNJ) was recently awarded $134,800 in Fiscal Year 2023 General Operating/Program Support grant funds by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts (NJSCA). NJSCA awarded more than $28 million in grants to support over 700 arts organizations, projects, and artists throughout the state. This grant award will provide operating support for VACNJ to cover program and curatorial staff salaries, facility costs, and administrative costs.

 



ArtsBergen to Present Public Art Programs in Fall Celebration at Hackensack's SACKtoberfest
 

(HACKENSACK, NJ) -- This fall, a range of public art programming will be featured at SACKtoberfest in Hackensack.  This fun-filled festival of art, food, brew, and live music returns to Hackensack, on October 15 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm at Atlantic Street Park.  The festivities, organized by The Sack Business Alliance and the City of Hackensack, are free and open to the public.

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Poetry and Paintings NJ and Co-Collaborator Crystal Letters has announced its lineup for October's Poetry and Paintings Open Mic at Greenspace Studios on October 7th. Poetry and Paintings is an open mic and art showcase, featuring musicians, poets, and artists from the tri-state area. This October’s Poetry and Paintings Open Mic event will feature Jersey City Poet Laureate, Rescue Poetix, musician CSW aka atheroic_poet, artists by Aryeh Kadosh and Buttered Roll and more.  The event takes place from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Greenspace Studio Green Space Studios 195 New York Ave Ste 3E Jersey City. Event curation by SammyB (itsbymmas) and videography by Dolo_xi.
