Theater League of Clifton presents “Man of La Mancha”

(CLIFTON, NJ) -- The Theater League of Clifton will stage a production of the Broadway musical Man of La Mancha at the Clifton High School auditorium across two weekends in July (15-17 and 22-24). A beloved theatrical classic written by Dale Wasserman with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion, opened at Broadway’s Martin Beck Theater on March 20, 1965, and had a run of over 2,300 shows. There have been numerous revivals and regional productions over the years. The production is best known for its signature song, “The Impossible Dream.”

Cast members include Frank Ortega (Don Quixote), Matthew Blum (Sancho Panza), Sindy De La Cruz (Aldonza), David Shaw, Don Flynn, Romana Schaeffer, Luke Ostrow, Karen Bednarz, Felipe Rodriguez, Jessa Blackthorne, Stuart Shafran, Thomas Sherlock, Kenneth Fowler, Drew McGuinness, Emma Wein, Wendi Marak, and Amanda Regan.

Maren Sugarman will direct the musical, Jalmari Vanamo serves as the musical director, Chris Robertson is the fight director and John Traier is the producer. Sugarman directed the Theater League’s production of Oliver in November 2019.

Performances are slated for July 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24. Friday and Saturday night performances begin at 7:30pm; Sunday matinees begin at 2:00pm. Advance tickets are priced $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. Tickets sold at the door are priced at $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors. Free parking is available at Clifton High School, located at 333 Colfax Avenue in Clifton, New Jersey.

Tickets can be reserved online via credit card at the Theater League website or by calling the Theater League box office at (973) 928-7668. Group rates are available by phone only. Tickets also can be reserved by mail with a check at Theater League of Clifton, P.O. Box 4072, Clifton, 07012 (include the show date and time).
