(MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse is presenting the hit Broadway musical Sister Act now through June 26, 2022. The play features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner, and additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane, based on the Touchstone Pictures Motion Picture Sister Act written by Joseph Howard.
"Fiddler on the Roof" - A Musical Cry from the Embattled Ukraine


The storied musical Fiddler on the Roof is coming to Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center June 17 and 18. In case you forgot, it’s the marvelous story of a family led by a tough old father, Tevye,  who puts up with a lot of change from his kids and struggles to hold his townspeople together in a changing and explosive political climate in 1905 in Russia.
The CAU Community Players presents "The Wizard of Oz"


(ELIZABETH, NJ) -- What makes theater irresistible to those who perform? Beyond the lights, music and thrill of embodying a character, it’s the energy of creating art as a team. Teamwork is making magic possible for The CAU Community Players tenth anniversary show, and they promise to delight audiences with a classic: The Wizard of Oz runs June 24-26, streaming live at 7:00pm.

(OCEAN, NJ) -- The Axelrod Performing Arts Center is presenting the musical Grease for three weeks, June 3-19 at the Vogel Auditorium. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the musical's Broadway opening, this production of Grease is directed and choreographed by Lisa Stevens. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos during a dress rehearsal of the show.
East Lynne Theater's "Dorothy Parker: A Certain Woman" Returns


(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy," was just one of Dorothy Parker's famous quotes.  Parker (1893-1967) was a poet, journalist, critic, screenwriter, human rights activist and philanthropist. She was a member of The Algonquin Round Table, a popular writer for "The New Yorker," won the O. Henry Short Story Award for "The Big Blonde," and received an Oscar nomination for co-writing the screenplay for the original "A Star is Born." A collection of her work, "The Portable Dorothy Parker," has never been out of print.
Axelrod PAC presents "A Monkey and Me: Stories I Never Told My Mother"


(OCEAN, NJ) -- The Axelrod Performing Arts Center presents A Monkey and Me: Stories I Never Told My Mother, a new musical comedy by New Jersey playwright, composer and lyricist Jonathan Brielle Holtzman, from June 24-30. In this show, Holtzman portrays himself opposite TV and Broadway legend Tovah Feldshuh as his mother. It also stars the award-winning actress, Veanne Cox, as his “monkey.”

The Clydes To Hold Record Release Show In Jersey City


(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- The Clydes will celebrate the release of their new EP, Golden, on Saturday, June 11 at Departed Soles Brewing Company in Jersey City.  The lineup includes The Components and Son Of Dov. There is no cover charge and the show starts at 6:30pm.
State Theatre NJ presents Kraftwerk 3-D


(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The newly renovated State Theatre New Jersey presents Kraftwerk 3-D as part of their North American tour on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 8:00pm. This Kraftwerk concert brings together music, 3-D visuals, and performance art. Tickets range from $45-$160.

New Jersey Symphony closes season with world premieres by Daniel Bernard Roumain and 4 jazz composers


(NEWARK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Symphony’s 2021–22 season finale features the world premieres of a pair of Symphony commissions—an innovative concerto for Principal Horn Chris Komer and jazz trio with movements by four leading jazz composers, and a work by Resident Artistic Catalyst Daniel Bernard Roumain. Poetjournalist Aaron Dworkin performs his The American Rhapsody: Symphonic Variations on an African Air with music by Coleridge-Taylor. Music Director Xian Zhang conducts. Performances take place June 11 at 8:00pm at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank and June 12 at 3:00pm at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.
NJ PBS Launches "Soundcheck", A New Music Series


(RED BANK, NJ) -- NJ PBS, New Jersey’s public television network, announced the production of the new music series Soundcheck, airing its first two episodes on consecutive Tuesdays, June 7 and 14 at 9:30pm on NJ PBS (check local listings). This pilot series, recorded at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, brings viewers behind–the–scenes with artists and collaborators for a fresh look at music. It is hosted by Jen Eckert, a Jersey native and seasoned series producer whose portfolio includes programs for CNN, Fuse and two current NJ PBS series, Chat Box with David Cruz and Reporters Roundtable.
A New Live-music Series Launches at The Homestead in Morristown


(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- A free show Wednesday, June 8, with Grateful Dead tribute band This Old Engine kicks off a series of performances at the Homestead – which opened in 2020, but has not featured original, live music on a regular basis until now.  Also coming up this summer are a Railroad Earth side project, Steve Kimock and Friends, and Spafford. These shows are presented by Flying V Productions, which has been promoting live music in New Jersey the last several years (most notably at The Stanhope House).

On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, the Garden State Arts Foundation continued it’s Spring season of free live entertainment for NJ residents aged 55 and over with a concert entitled Jerry ‘The Geator’ Blavat Rocks the House with Gary U.S. Bonds, The Chiclettes, and Bobby Wilson at Holmdel, NJ’s PNC Bank Arts Center. The season’s first program starred Las Vegas entertainer Rick Michel who presented his Frank Sinatra tribute, Sinatra Forever, on May 18.
Newark Symphony Hall Announces Shows and Return of Monthly Soul Line Dancing


(NEWARK, NJ) -- Newark Symphony Hall (NSH), the largest Black-led arts and entertainment venue in the state, announced its summer 2022 lineup of events and performances, including monthly soul line dancing with WBLS 107.5’s Superhero DJ Jon Quick and legendary instructor Kenny J, which begins on Friday, June 10, and is free for the first month.

Nicholas Winton: The Man Who Saved 669 Children screens as part of the 2022 New Jersey International Film Festival on Sunday, June 12


Nicholas Winton: The Man Who Saved 669 Children, directed by Frédéric Tonolli,  is a film unlike any other. There are many movies on the Holocaust, unfortunately, but it is because there is so much to discuss. The Holocaust was an immensely dark time for Jewish people where over six million Jews were murdered simply because they were Jewish. This film depicts the astounding actions of Sir Nicholas Winton which prevented the killing of Jewish children. Winton uses his own money to transport children from areas under Nazi rule to England. This film also focuses on the hardships that families faced while they were broken up as parents could not accompany their children.

Q-Fest NJ Celebrates Pride Month with Screening of "The Living End" in Asbury Park


(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The ShowRoom Cinema and QSpot LGBT Community Center invite you to celebrate Gay Pride Month with a one-night only screening of Gregg Araki’s film The Living End on Sunday, June 19 at 7:30pm. The event marks the celebration of 30 years of New Queer Cinema, and QSpot's re-launch of QFest, NJ's only LGBT Film Festival. A portion of the event proceeds will go towards supporting QFest.

Gallery Aferro presents "Tell Me More About Yourself (Self-Portraits and Other Autobiographical Endeavors)"
