Top 10 Most Read Stories at New Jersey Stage For Week of April 17-23, 2022

Here's a look at the top 10 most read articles published at New Jersey Stage during the week of April 17-23, 2022.  Each week, we publish about 70 articles, including several original columns and features, along with news releases for events happening throughout the state and nearby areas like Philadelphia and New York City. This week Top Ten includes articles covering five counties in New Jersey (Essex, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Somerset).  Paper Mill Playhouse had three of the top eight stories for the second straight week.

1) Skylark Fine Diner & Lounge is Latest Live Music & Entertainment Hub - (EDISON, NJ) -- Skylark Fine Diner & Lounge in Edison is the latest live music and entertainment hub to check out.  After making headlines a second time for hosting another episode of the Food Network show, “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” this one-of-a-kind spot is kicking it up yet another notch with live music shows and events presented by Stage Stars Productions.

2) Middlesex County forges forward with regional strategy as Edison Township is added to its emergency radio system - (EDISON, NJ) --  In keeping with an ongoing strategy to offer regional solutions, Middlesex County and the Township of Edison have announced the addition of Edison to its emergency radio system. Participating in this County-wide service will save Edison millions of dollars each year and ensure greater efficiencies in communicating emergencies. This arrangement will provide access to a state-of-the-art radio system that enables Edison to maintain communications with County agencies and other municipalities in Middlesex County that are also on this network.

3) Review of "The Wanderer" at Paper Mill Playhouse - Biographical jukebox musicals follow an established path – heroic artist is especially talented; challenged by demons (bad relationships or addiction); defy barriers and the adoring crowd stands soaking in hit from a bygone time.  Michael Wartella firmly joins the pantheon of supremely talented theatrical performers who embody a real-life rocker and slays with an iconic performance.  At the Paper Mill Playhouse, he owns the theater as doo wop/rocker Dion in a new production “The Wanderer.” 

4) Paper Mill Playhouse Announces 2022-2023 Season - (MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse has announced its 2022-2023 season, including a gripping murder mystery, a Disney hero of mythic proportions, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s beloved final musical, the Tony-nominated story of two Latin music icons, and the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical that defined a generation.

5) "Every Song was a Hit!" The Hit Men LIVE! at the Grunin Center - Music lovers are streaming into Toms River, NJ’s Grunin Center for the Arts this Friday, April 8, 2022 evening for a live concert by The Hit Men, a group of talented musicians who have performed with a who’s who of legendary artists including members of Foreigner, Journey, Cheap Trick, Cream, Grand Funk, and The Who. The group was founded in 2010 by Lee Shapiro, former musical director/keyboardist for Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

6) Mother's Day Good Music Festival at Prudential Center features The Isley Brothers, Keith Sweat, Monica, and SWV - (NEWARK, NJ) -- SJ Presents The Mother’s Day Good Music Festival with multi-platinum and Grammy Award-Winning iconic performers The Isley Brothers, Keith Sweat, Monica, and SWV at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Friday, May 6 at 8:00pm. 

7) The Academy Players bring "The Addams Family" to Axelrod PAC - (DEAL PARK, NJ) -- The Academy Players will debut their second musical, The Addams Family, at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center in Ocean Township, for two weekends, May 7-15, 2022. The Academy Players are the Musical Theater students of the Axelrod Performing Arts Academy (APAA) located at Bell Works in Holmdel. 

8) Dion, "The Wanderer" and a Memorable Story from Rock and Roll History - The Paper Mill Playhouse is dark and funeral-like quiet. All of a sudden, as loud and thumping as it can be comes the music.

9) Turf Replacement Underway at Carteret’s Veterans Baseball Field and Mustillo Softball Field after Damage from Hurricane Ida - (CARTERET, NJ) -- Carteret Mayor Daniel J. Reiman announced on April 22, that Shaw Sports Turf has begun work to replace the synthetic turf on Veterans Baseball Field and Mustillo Softball Field at Civic Center Park on Pershing Avenue, which were damaged by Hurricane Ida in September 2021.

10) Brook Arts Center presents Chris Ruggiero with "Silly Love Songs" - (BOUND BROOK, NJ) -- Brook Arts Center presents singer Chris Ruggiero on May 20, 2022 at 8:00 pm. Ruggiero takes his audiences on a journey through the golden age of rock and roll, breathing new life into the timeless music of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.
