Our Favorite Stories In Comedy: An Interview With Louie Anderson

New Jersey Stage published its 25,000th story in December 2021. As the site approached the milestone, we posed the question on social media as how we should celebrate.  One response was to highlight our favorite stories from over the years.  We liked this idea, but could not narrow things down to just 25 favorites so we will present a favorite each day from different genres.  Today's choice is a look at comedy with an interview of Louie Anderson from 2017.

But don’t let that description fool you - Stone’s candid demeanor and sense of humor made even the darkest topics not only approachable, but an utter joy to behold. Experimental Animation Mise En Abyme plays at the Spring 2022 New Jersey Film Festival on January 28!

Mise En Abyme is a short experimental animation film by Charly Santagado that will be playing at the New Jersey Film Festival on Friday, January 28, 2022. The entire film is set in one room where two women interact with each other in a very specific way. One of the women is an artist that appears to be using the other as her muse, [although we cannot be entirely sure of that dynamic] while the other woman [the muse] is only visible to the audience by way of reflection; there is a mirror placed next to the artist that acts as a window into what the woman across from her is doing.

Home in the Air screens at the Spring 2022 New Jersey Film Festival on January 28

Home in the Air is a film by Spanish filmmaker Elena Vilallonga that will be playing at the New Jersey Film Festival on Friday, January 28th, 2022. Usually when something is referred to as being “in the air” it is something that is nostalgic or contagious in some way. In the case of this film, it actually refers to a home that is suspended in midair; Hogar Al Aire. It is a film that follows the lives of two turtledoves who work together to start a family. The images presented are juxtaposed with the sound of a narrator describing a typical life cycle. What’s interesting about this film is that the narrator could simply be narrating the day-to-day happenings of these birds, or their words could be interpreted as revealing a deeper truth about the universality of the experience of life on Earth.
