Makin Waves Song of the Week: "Seconds" by Colossal Street Jam

Colossal Street Jam guitarist Sal Marra is battling cancer. His rock ‘n’ roll brethren have organized a benefit for him Feb. 27 at The Vogel at Count Basie Center in Red Bank. A video for “Seconds,” a track from an album expected to be released this summer, will be screened at the show, but New Jersey Stage has a sneak peek as the Makin Waves Song of the Week.

“The producer of the show, Toby Ludwig has been doing this since the early 2000s and we found each other a few years ago when they were looking for a bass player with a little bit of a pedigree to join an all-star band,” explained bassist and vocalist of “It Was 50 Years Ago Today”  Jason Scheff as he discussed how he became involved with the unit and their upcoming March 1 appearance at The Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ. “They went out to do “The White Album” and I found out it was Todd Rundgren, Christopher Cross, Micky Dolenz and Joey Molland of Badfinger and I said, absolutely; I’d love to do it! So, I got involved in their world a few years ago and it’s such a blast; it’s really, really a lot of fun.”



WP Presents Rock of Jersey: A Multimedia Event Featuring The B Street Band and Slippery When Wet

(WAYNE, NJ) -- On Saturday, March 5 at 8:00pm, WP Presents Rock of Jersey - a special event featuring performances by the B Street Band and Slippery When Wet in the Shea Center for Performing Arts at William Paterson University. These bands pay tribute to two of New Jersey's most popular artists and the sounds of Jersey Rock.

Our Favorite Stories In Music: Interview with Five for Fighting's John Ondrasik

New Jersey Stage published its 25,000th story in December 2021. As the site approached the milestone, we posed the question on social media as how we should celebrate.  One response was to highlight our favorite stories from over the years.  We liked this idea, but could not narrow things down to just 25 favorites so we will present a favorite each day from different genres. Every Monday we feature one of our favorite stories in music. This week's choice is an interview with Five for Fighting's John Ondrasik.



SOPAC Is Ready To Rock This Spring

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The newly renovated State Theatre New Jersey presents The Brian McKnight 4 on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 8:00pm. A contemporary music legend, Brian McKnight has achieved international fame with chart-topping hits and 16 Grammy® Award nominations throughout his nearly four-decade-long career. “I’ve played in Morristown a lot and in Red Bank too; like everybody else, I’m trying to regroup and figure out how to do this thing again,” said a laughing Marcia Ball as she discussed her upcoming show at the South Orange Performing Arts Center on February 19 and her latest release, “Shine Bright.” People would say, “I haven’t seen you in so long” and then I’d kind of catch myself  and say, well hey, I haven’t seen anybody!”
