“The drummer Gino Vallecillo is the newest in the band and he’s from down here from a little town called Dehlco, Louisiana, the keys and sax player Jason Pafait is from down here as well, he’s from a town called Houma, Louisiana and the other two are transplants to New Orleans. The bass player Kevin Scott is from Alabama and the guitar player is from kind of all over. He was born in L.A. and grew up in Philadelphia and St. Louis and his father was Aerosmith’s guitar-tech for years so, he’s got touring in his blood,” laughed “Bayou Soul” artist Marc Broussard as he discussed his band, his latest album, “A Lullaby Collection SOS lll” and his new children’s book, “I Love You For You” along with the current tour and his upcoming April 1 show at The South Orange Performing Arts Center.

(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- On Saturday, May 21, Eddie Palmieri, the “Madman of Salsa,” will tickle the ivories with his Latin Jazz band at the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC). The 85-year-old ten-time Grammy winner and NEA Jazz Master has been playing the piano and composing electrifying music for over six decades.

“Yes, we are going to be at the Beacon Theatre on April 3 and The Scottish Rite on April 7, 8 and 9. I’m looking forward to it because I always like playing at The Scottish Rite and The Beacon is a favorite because they both have great sound because they both act like an amplifier. So, when you thunder into the beginning of a number the building talks back to you which is great.”



Smooth Vocals, R&B and All that Jazz at The Woodland on April 23rd

(MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- Spring fever is at its peak at the historic Woodland Mansion in Maplewood, NJ on Saturday, April 23rd. Smooth Vocals R&B with Maysa Leak (Deep Waters) Grammy Nominee. All that jazz with classical flutist turned Jazz flutist Alexander Zonjic (multiple winner Detroit Music Awards) and funk provided by the incomparable keys of James Lloyd from Pieces of a Dream, Kris Kurzawa (Guitar), Jeff Candy (Drums), and Mike Harrington (Bass). The event starts at 8:00pm and is presented by Smooth Jazz NJ and the Maplewood Division of Arts & Culture at the Woodland in Maplewood.



Catching Up With Keith Monacchio: An interview about "Under A Nightlight Sky"

Keith Monacchio has been one of my favorite artists from New Jersey for a long time.  His career started with the Semi-Beings and then The Commons (who put out some of the best records of the era, in my opinion).  He released his 5th solo record, Under A Nightlight Sky on March 22, 2022.  The record explores themes of family, fatherhood, political tribalism, aging, and a hope for a better future in these very uncertain times. 2022 marks the 30th year of Keith's musical journey, which makes him the ideal subject for a new series that takes a look at artists who were part of my old Upstage Magazine days and still very much active today.



Black Violin: The Impossible Tour 2022 Comes to MPAC on April 14th

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Black Violin, the genre-bending group that merges hip hop with classical, returns to Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) as part of its 2022 Impossible Tour. Black Violin performs on Thursday, April 14 at 7:30pm. Tickets range from $29-$59.
