HOLY HEAVÊNESS - The unbearable lightness of the death of loved ones… There are wounds in life that eat away at you like leprosy… The weight of the death of loved ones sometimes becomes so overwhelming that to get rid of this weight another birth is inevitable. Directed by Farnoosh Abedi, Negah Khezre Fardyardad, Mohammad Ghaffari (00:10:00) New Jersey Premiere

The Last Musician - There is little emotion in a dystopian future as everyone strives to be a productive member of society. Emotional Regulation Medication (ERM) is mandatory and effectively removes almost all outward displays of emotion. Art, music, love, race, and religion are viewed as threats to the rigid emotional regulation that governs society. As citizens age, the ERMs used to control emotions stop working, so they are moved to a “senior center,” where they are hidden from society. Under the watchful eyes of his government-employed father, dutiful mother and an ever-present surveillance society, Ethan--a dedicated and selfless young man--must complete the task, and test, of moving Oliver Hildebrand to a senior center before Ethan can take his place in society. Ethan is unprepared for the challenge and dangers when he uncovers Oliver’s 100 year-old secret. Directed by Matt Crick (00:28:25) New Jersey Premiere

Silent Harmony - Having survived a tragic accident, a celebrated pianist becomes traumatized and emotionally detaches until she forms a quiet connection with a local handyman who breaks her silence and restores her will. Directed by Debra Markowitz (00:15:00) New Jersey Premiere

"She's Like the Wind"

The first thing you'll see upon entering the gallery at Deep Space (77 Cornelison St.) is the shadow-outline of a woman's leg. There it is, on a chartreuse background, sticking straight up in the air with a curvaceous bare foot inches from the ceiling. That's all of the subject of "Lemon Lime Toe of God" that the oil painter Delilah Ray Miske is willing to show us. The rest of the body, she implies, is splayed out on a bed. We know it's summer because the window is closed and the air conditioner is plugged in. There's a pretty good chance that the possessor of the leg is undressed. In one hand, she holds a cellphone, and she might be broadcasting something. On the wall, a small whip-like broomstick hangs. It could be the ride of a tiny witch. It could be the professional tool of a dominatrix.
