Known for her distinctive blend of modern indie music and classic jazz influences, the soulful GRAMMY award winning vocalist LAUFEY (pronounced lāy-vāy), comes to McCarter for this exclusive conversation to share her inspirational journey, cultural influences, and creative process. Princeton University Assistant Professor of Musicology Anna Yu Wang will interview the 25-year-old Icelandic Chinese multi-instrumentalist who has revitalized jazz and classical music for a new generation.
Presented in partnership with the student group Princeton Encore, the Department of East Asian Studies, the Department of Music and ODUS.
LAUFEY’s visit is part of McCarter’s Arts & Ideas program, which links Princeton University scholarship and campus life to the work on stage and is co-sponsored by the Princeton University Humanities Council.
