Singer, songwriter, and musician, Richard Shindell divides his time between Buenos Aires, Argentina and New York’s Hudson Valley. Richard’s songs paint pictures, tell stories, juxtapose ideas, inhabit characters, and vividly evoke entire worlds along the way. Taking up the guitar at the age of eight, he spent his formative years learning the instrument and listening to a range of music. He released his first album, Sparrows Point, in 1992, and has a dozen more solo and collaborative records.
Richard is a member of Cry, Cry, Cry with past Folk Harbour performers Dar Williams and Lucy Kaplansky, and is also in the Pine Hill Project with Lucy. Richard has the distinction of being able to say Joan Baez is an established fan; indeed, Baez has covered several of his songs and invited Richard to tour with her.
