(HOLMDEL, NJ) -- The Axelrod Performing Arts Academy (APAA) has released its 2024 schedule of summer classes for pre-professional dance and musical theater students along with a special session led by television star Lane Napper, best known for his roles on Nickelodeon's iCarly and Victorious.
In honor of Women's History Month, their program "100 Years of Women Composers" will grace the stage of Music at Bunker Hill in Sewell on March 17th. In advance of this performance, Jersey Arts spoke with violinist Claire Chan, a member of their String Quartet.

(NEWARK, NJ) -- GlassRoots, Newark's 23-year-old nonprofit glass art institution, is thrilled to announce its move and expansion in 2025 to a new space at 23 William Street in RBH Group's Teachers Village community. This state-of-the-art ground-level location will house GlassRoots' offices, glassmaking studios, classrooms, and event spaces, providing greater access and visibility to the general public. Twice the size of the organization's current space in Newark's Downtown District, GlassRoots' new home will position Newark's premier glass art center as an anchor of the City's Arts and Education District and an engaging cultural institution for an evolving neighborhood.
(HAMILTON, NJ) -- The nonprofit Friends for the Abbott Marshlands (FFAM) announces a new talk, Abstracts in Nature, by photographer David O. Anderson, on Sunday, March 24 from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Dave will speak about his approaches to abstract photography in Abbott Marshlands in anticipation of the 2024 Voices of the Marsh Photography Exhibition to be held this fall. Topics will include The Concept of Abstract Photography, and how it relates to: In-Camera techniques, Computer-based applications and effects, and iPhone-based applications. Beginner, intermediate and advanced photographers are invited. The talk is FREE, but online registration is required.
(CARTERET, NJ) -- The first-ever indoor UNCORK Spring! wine and food experience will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at URSB Carteret Performing Arts & Events Center, 46 Washington Ave. Eleven prize-winning Garden State wineries will sample 125 wines, some of which will be paired with food.
The deadline is March 29 for the New Jersey Jazz Society's 2024 Juried Scholarship Competition. The competition is open to all New Jersey college students currently enrolled in a college undergraduate music program and to New Jersey residents currently enrolled in an out-of-state college undergraduate program. For the latter, proof of residency is required. There are four awards: $1,000 for Jazz Performance; $1,000 for Original Composition; $500 for Jazz Performance; and $500 for Original Composition.

All shows will take place beginning at 8:00pm in JSAC's Palaia Theater. "Last year it was 35 years ago when Whitesnake headlined the legendary Donington Festival in England. So, we thought it would be a good thing to celebrate that anniversary and do a "My Whitesnake Years" tour and when we were done, people from all over the world began asking if we'd be willing to do a run here or there and we went to Scandinavia, Spain and there is actually more stuff in the pipeline for next year also and of course now to the United States and it has been a lot of fun so far."
