On June 4, 2024, Pittsburgh rock 'n' roll legend Joe Grushecky shared an official music video for "Here In '68," a track taken from his new studio album Can't Outrun A Memory, out on July 12 through Omnivore Recording, which will be the first release of new material in 7 years from Joe and The Houserockers. It features 13 Grushecky originals coupled with a blistering cover of The Animals classic "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place." Coupled with the new album, Grushecky recently released Houserocker: A Joe Grushecky Anthology, which is out now through Omnivore Recordings.
(NEWARK, NJ) -- Experience an amazing lineup of diverse artists under the stars this summer at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) for exciting, FREE concerts during the Horizon Sounds of the City series every Thursday from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. The series unites Newark's cultural diversity by bringing together residents, workers, and visitors for unforgettable evenings of great music, food, and fun. This year's lineup includes Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista, Afrobeat singer and artist Kofi Kinaata, New Orleans funk band Galactic f. Jelly Joseph, rap icon KRS-One, and New Orleans bounce singer Big Freedia. Some performances will also showcase a guest poet from Dodge Poetry, as well as local opening talent and NJPAC's student performers.

Fencing for the Edge is an iced soda on a hot summer night. Much as we know sports are revelries of adrenaline, I was taken aback by the resonance I felt from watching this documentary about fencing. This piece, woven with real tears and joy, clenched and scratched my heart as I started fidgeting in my seat, wishing time would pass sooner to know what would come next. Despite Hollywood's successful portrayals of athletic prowess, the glitzy studio shots didn't strike me as much as this team of teenage girls, whose most sincere emotions through struggles and triumphs outshine even the most praised performance.

The readings will take place at the Princeton Makes store in the Princeton Shopping Center. The June reading will feature Phyllis Frakt and Marie Gray Wise. Their readings will be followed by an open mic available to up to 10 audience members who would like to read their original poetry.
(WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- From June 28-30, 2024, The Theater Project presents Kaleidoscope Kabaret, its annual showcase of new work, at Luna Stage. Audiences are invited to see a variety of short plays by members of the company's Playwrights Workshop whose work has been performed in Canada, Great Britain, New York and around the US. This year's event also includes two plays by high school/college playwrights, past honorees of The Theater Project's annual Young Playwrights Competition. The Kabaret includes music performed by guest musicians, including Sandra Toll and David Tillestrand.
(PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Arden Theatre Company brings the Tony Award-winning musical, Dear Evan Hansen, to the F. Otto Haas Stage this spring. Featuring a book by Steven Levenson and music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the production is directed by Terrence J. Nolen and co-conceived by Jorge Cousineau and Nolen. Performances begin May 21, the show opens May 27, and runs through July 5, 2026.
