The Summit Playhouse presents "Is He Dead?" by Mark Twain

originally published: 04/02/2024

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Summit Playhouse presents Is He Dead? from April 26 to May 11, 2024.  This is a play by Mark Twain based on an earlier short story.  In it, a young painter of genius is in love but in debt. To achieve fame and fortune, he fakes his death while passing himself off as his own sister. Now rich, he must find a way to get out of a dress, return to life, and marry his love.

Mashing the sardonic, wry humor of Mark Twain with the farcical cross-dressing classic comedies like Some Like It Hot, Tootsie, and Mrs. Doubtfire, audiences are sure to have a blast!

The cast includes Dale Monroe Jr. (Jean-Francois Millet); Brian Madden (Chicago); Zachary Conner (Dutchy); Justin Montanaro (O’Shaughnessy); Keith Hoovler (Bastien Andre); KC Cameron (Papa Leroux); Erin Feith (Cecile Leroux); Grace Ahlin (Marie Leroux); Rebecca Iacovitti (Madame Bathilde); Angeline Wedemeier (Madame Caron); and Rupert Hinton playing "Thorpe", "Charlie", "Claude Rivière", and "King of France". The production is Directed by Peter Curley with Producers Christine Petruzell, Kay Gunn; and Stage Managers Christine Petruzell, Paris Bates.

Tickets are $25.00 for Adults; $20.00 for Seniors/Students; and $10.00 for Teens at all Saturday Night Shows. Tickets are available for purchase online.

Performances take place Friday, April 26 at 8:00pm; Saturday, April 27 at 8:00pm; Sunday, April 28 at 2:00pm; Friday, May 3 at 8:00pm; Saturday, May 4 at 8:00pm; Sunday, May 5 at 2:00pm; Friday, May 10 at 8:00pm; and Saturday, May 11 at 8:00pm.  All performances take place at The Summit Playhouse (10 New England Avenue) in Summit, New Jersey.
