(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College's School-Time series for children and young teens will continue with a production of The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 10:00am. The 60-minute performance is geared for children in grades Pre-K to 5 and their families. British Theatre Guide has called the production "Funny, enchanting and visually inventive."

The Boy Who Cried Wolf centers around Silas, who is from a family of shepherds. Knowing he has to do right by his mum and granddad, Silas reluctantly takes on the responsibility of watching the family’s sheep on the mountain in wintertime. But Silas is bored and lonely, and unhappy he’s missing the town’s annual knitting competition. So, what does he do? He cries: “Wolf!”

Written by playwright Mike Kenny and inspired by Aesop’s famous fable, this beautiful, wintery tale centers around a boy who learns that “nobody believes a liar, even when they’re telling the truth.” Gifted actor-musicians play instruments and sing live as they embody all the delightful characters, including hilarious sheep and even a scary wolf or two. The story is set in a village of knitters, where every new sweater seems to tell a tale. Ultimately, Silas finds a place for himself (and his imagination) in his warm, woolly community.

Tickets for all performances in the School-Time series cost $8 per person; one free chaperone ticket is provided for every 15 tickets bought. To purchase tickets or for additional information about any of the productions in RVCCArts’ current season, contact the Box Office, 908-725-3420, or order online at www.rvccArts.org.
