Roy's Hall presents A Very Slambovian Christmas

originally published: 11/30/2023

(BLAIRSTOWN, NJ) -- A Very Slambovian Christmas comes to Roy's Hall on Friday, December 22 at 8:00pm. Also known as The Grand Slambovians, the band pioneered the alt-folk/Americana genre, staying on the fringes of the music industry and under the radar while producing several critically acclaimed studio albums. Drawing on a set list comprised of traditional Christmas songs with a twist, a sprinkling of original holiday tunes, and a generous helping of non-traditional musical fare, it is guaranteed there will be something for everyone.

With a rootsy psychedelica that hints at Dylan, Bowie, Neil Young, The Beatles, Incredible String Band, The Waterboys, and Jethro Tull, the Slambovian Circus of Dreams ‘Very Slambovian Christmas’ show is guaranteed to 'flip your switch' and spark the holiday spirit!

Be prepared for Christmas songs with a "Slambovian twist” and rockin’ original holiday tunes for a fun ‘outside the box’ holiday show. The band will charm and disarm you from the first note - a great night out with family and friends to celebrate the holiday season!

Tickets range from $35-$40 and are available for purchase online. The Slambovian Circus of Dreams is a perennial favorite at Roy’s Hall and their annual “A Very Slambovian Christmas” show consistently sells out each year. Roy's Hall is located at 30 Main Street in Blairstown, New Jersey.

The Slambovian’s have been expanding the borders of the Americana genre with their fantastic stories and performance since the late 90’s in Sleepy Hollow, New York. Their connection with audiences at shows taps into a greater human-ness and captivates with charismatic band leader Joziah Longo center ring presiding… Joined onstage by bandmates Tink Lloyd (accordion, cello, mandolin, flute) and the guitar-slinging skills of Sharkey McEwen, the Slambovians create a show that is constantly evolving “with a little help from their friends”. 2023’s line-up features RJ MacCarthaigh (bass, keys, sax), Bob Torsello (bass), and Matthew Abourezk (drums). Elements of Dylan, Bowie, Incredible String Band, Syd Barrett and The Waterboys flavor the musical mix (Waterboys co-founder Anthony Thistlethwaite is on the band’s new album). Add a good dose of Woodstock-era psychedelia framed in solid songwriting, and you have it.
