(LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ) -- Rider University's College of Arts and Sciences has announced its Fall 2022 performing arts schedule. Rider’s comprehensive theatre, musical theatre, dance, music and voice programs have a rich tradition of preparing students for thriving careers as well-rounded performers and musical leaders. Westminster Chapel Choir, Westminster Choir and Westminster Symphonic Choir will also be performing on the road.

Experience the emerging talent of Rider’s students firsthand by attending one of these nearly 20 performance events.

Urinetown: The Musical - In the not-so-distant future, a terrible water shortage and 20-year drought has led to a government ban on private toilets and a proliferation of paid public toilets, owned and operated by a single megalomaniac company: the Urine Good Company. If the poor don’t obey the strict laws prohibiting free urination, they’ll be sent to the dreaded and mysterious “Urinetown.” After too long under the heel of the malevolent Caldwell B. Cladwell, the poor stage a revolt, led by a brave young hero, fighting tooth and nail for the freedom to pee “wherever you like, whenever you like, for as long as you like, and with whomever you like. Winner of three Tony Awards, Urinetown tells the tale of a government-enforced ban on private toilets forcing its citizens to pay for the use of public amenities – a hilarious musical satire of bureaucracy, municipal politics and musical theater itself. Todd Buonopane, director; Peter de Mets, music director. Performances take place at Rider University, Bart Luedeke Center Theater on October 7 at 7:30pm; October 8 at 2:00pm & 7:30pm; and October 9 at 2:00pm.

Social Justice Sing - October 15 at 1:00pm; Rider University, Bart Luedeke Center Theater. On World Singing Day, October 15th, we will join with voices around the world for a singing experience centered around celebrating our common humanity and justice for all. We will explore musical styles from folk and classical to Broadway and R&B. Together, we will raise our voices as advocates for equity.  Westminster Choir College faculty and students will be joined by ChildrenSong as co-hosts for this intergenerational event in honor of World Singing Day, open to everyone. Every voice matters. No singing experience is required!

The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong - You all know the classic murder mystery story. There has been an untimely death at a country manor, everyone is a suspect, and an inspector is set on the case to find who the culprit is. However, when this play is performed by the accident-prone thespians of The Cornley Drama Society, everything that can go wrong…does!  Expect a plethora of disasters from missed lines to falling props, you’ll just have to see for yourself!
