
(EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- “Xanadu”, the Tony Award-nominated, hilarious, roller skating, musical adventure, based on the cult classic movie of the same title, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly rolls on into Playhouse 22 starting March 25 and running through April 10 with performances on Friday & Saturday at 8:00 and Sunday matinees at 3:00pm.
Xanadu follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first ROLLER DISCO! (Hey, it's 1980!) But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation, and chaos abounds.
Playhouse 22’s production is directed by Jonathan V. Edmondson, with music direction by Emily Bengels and choreography by Anthony Ferrigno.
Performances will be March 25 – April 10, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm.; and Sundays at 3:00pm. Tickets are $22/adults and $20/seniors and students and must be purchased in advance at Playhouse22.org or at 732-254-3939.
Guests are reminded that Playhouse 22 is requiring all those who purchase tickets to review the theater’s COVID-19 guide prior to purchasing tickets including the wearing of masks at a Playhouse 22 performance.
