Curated by the photographer Natali Bravo-Barbee, the exhibition highlights these artists’ exploration of their ancestral roots, cultural identity, and diasporic communities through varied photographic techniques.

Featured artists are: Manuel Acevedo, Carlos Alejandro, Lizzy Alejandro, Jacqueline Herranz Brooks, Monica Flores, Juan C. Giraldo, Orestes Gonzalez, Cesar Melgar, Qiana Mestrich, Josefina Fernandez Moran, William Riera, Gabriel Garcia Roman, and Dakota Santiago.

There will be an Opening Reception on Tuesday, September 24 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and an Artist Talk on September 24th from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. NJCU Visual Arts Gallery is located in the Visual Arts Building, Lower Level (100 Culver Avenue) in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Both campus galleries exhibit the work of historic artists, local and international contemporary artists, students, and faculty members.

In additional to showcasing a diverse range of art, NJCU campus art galleries offer related programs such as artist's talks, panel discussions, and performance events. The galleries are committed to broadening the artistic horizon for its campus and community by presenting art works with a wide range of subject matter, styles, and media, which reflect the cultural diversity of the greater metropolitan area.

The galleries afford students a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom instruction and the professional art world. Students engage themselves in the gallery activities through co-op internships, work-study programs, student assistantships, and course work in preparation for their subsequent careers.
