Michaela Anne to Perform at Concerts in the Studio

Nashville singer-songwriter Michaela Anne has announced a string of tour dates, including a 2022 headline tour kicking off in September. Michaela will join River Whyless for three dates in KY, IL, and MN before embarking on a headlining run which will also include stops at AmericanaFest, NPR Mountain Stage, World Cafe Live and more. Locally, she will perform at Freehold's Concerts in the Studio on October 7th.

Earlier this year, the musician “every indie fan needs to know” (BrooklynVegan) released her new album Oh To Be That Free (released June 10 on Yep Roc), a lush and cinematic collection that has garnered praise from the Recording Academy, the Americana Music Association, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, No Depression, The Boot, Bandcamp, KEXP, AllMusic and more. Holler attributed the “immaculately crafted” album’s success to Michaela’s “tenderness few singer-songwriters can muster.” Unbeknownst to Michaela when she wrote the songs, they became her life support as she confronted a painfully bittersweet new chapter. She became a mother while caring for her own mother, who had suffered a debilitating stroke and was hospitalized for months.

Michaela watched her daughter and mother live unsettling yet surreal parallels as they both slowly learned how to navigate this new world. As Michaela continues to search for the beauty in every imperfection, and across her entire new album, she finds healing when she learns to let go and embrace what’s in front of her. Combined with its cosmic country influences, indie-folk storytelling, sprawling swells of strings, and catchy pop melodies, Oh To Be That Free is “an album full of cathartic, complex reflections on a life that emerges triumphant in the face of adversity” (The Recording Academy).

Within the past few months, Michaela joined both Parker Millsap, Watchhouse, and The Milk Carton Kids on their US tours. She also made her Bonnaroo debut in June (and will be announcing more festival performances later this summer).

Concerts in the Studio is based on a simple premise....They host national touring bands and singer-songwriters in a Freehold photo studio, with near perfect sound and sightlines, that will forever change the way you experience live music...period.   100% of all donations go directly to the artists they host.
